Supporting students in the lower school, this role focuses on small-group intervention, push-in support, and close collaboration with teachers and families to ensure equitable literacy growth. The ideal candidate brings expertise in responsive, data-informed instruction and a deep commitment to helping every child become a confident reader and writer.* Deliver targeted small-group literacy instruction for lower school students using a structured multi-sensory approach focused on foundational skills: phonemic awareness, phonics, spelling, morphology, fluency, comprehension, and writing.* Adapt instruction to align with classroom curriculum, individual student needs, and foundational skill building.* Use inclusive, identity-affirming texts and resources.* Assign extension work to reinforce learning.* Monitor student progress.* Support student support documentation and student support plans.* Share literacy expertise at school events (e.g., parent nights, parent education events).* Curate inclusive book lists for families (3x/year) representing diverse identities and experiences.* Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.* Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Literacy, or a related field; advanced degree or certification in reading instruction preferred.* Certification and/or training in structured literacy programs such as Orton-Gillingham, Sonday System, Slingerland, and Handwriting Without Tears is strongly preferred.* Demonstrated experience with early elementary literacy instruction and intervention.* Familiarity with literacy assessment tools.* Commitment to developing an understanding of the needs of gifted learners.* A strong ability to effectively support neurodiverse students, including those with learning differences and language-based disorders.* Strong communication and collaboration skills with educators, families, and outside professionals.* Commitment to inclusive and equitable teaching practices.* Commitment to ongoing professional growth.* Ability to differentiate instruction and adapt materials for a range of learner needs.* Commitment to Nueva’s mission.We offer a that includes fully paid medical, dental, vision, life insurance for employees, employer contribution toward dependent insurance premium, a generous match on our retirement plan, long-term disability insurance, flexible spending account, and free lunch.
