Join the Fusion and Modular Nuclear Business Unit!

The Process Engineer will support the design of complex thermal and fluid systems for the Rolls Royce SMR project. This exciting new build project embraces innovation to deliver a commercially viable solution. The role will provide analysis and calculation support across Turbine Island systems and contribute to an internal centre of excellence for analysis and calculation methodology. You will generate static and transient flow and thermal analyses using various software tools and methods to demonstrate system performance, working closely with cross-disciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Customer Engagement: Ensure supplier deliverables meet requirements, challenging designs where necessary.
2. Design Development: Create and review Process Flow Diagrams, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams, Layout Drawings, Component Sizing Calculations, and Specifications.
3. Option Analysis & Decision Making: Conduct and review studies and design documents.
4. Systems Engineering: Develop and review functional and design requirements.
5. Integration: Seamlessly integrate Turbine Island design into the broader power plant.
6. Technical Support: Serve as the technical expert for Turbine Island interfaces and stakeholder activities.
7. Safety & Compliance: Support Design Reviews, HAZID/HAZOP studies, and ensure adherence to H&S policies.
8. Liaison: Collaborate with safety teams on nuclear safety licensing and environmental permitting.

My Profile

Qualifications:

1. Experience: Background in the nuclear sector or regulated industries like thermal power generation, oil and gas.
2. Technical Expertise: Knowledge of steam turbines, condensers, feedwater heaters, pumps, and piping systems.
3. Project Delivery: Experience from FEED to detailed design and EPC delivery.
4. Procurement & Supplier Liaison: Skilled in developing procurement specifications and working with suppliers.
5. Communication: Excellent skills for interacting with internal and external stakeholders.
6. Safety Knowledge: Familiarity with UK Health and Safety regulations, safety systems, and HAZOP.
7. Codes & Standards: Understanding of ASME, European, and UK standards.
8. Systems Engineering: Experience or awareness desirable.
9. Travel Ready: Ability to travel to Assystem offices and customer sites within the UK.
10. Global Impact: Support major UK and international Nuclear Clients with key work packages.
