Position Overview
The Standards Engineer role supports the development, maintenance, and communication of Husky Standards and related processes. This position ensures compliance with internal and external standards, facilitates knowledge sharing, and drives continuous improvement initiatives across engineering and manufacturing teams.
Role Description
Standards Management
- Administer and maintain Husky Standards library.
- Develop, update, and publish internal standards; maintain external industry standards (ISO, ASTM, ANSI).
- Conduct audits to ensure compliance and identify documents requiring updates.
- Documentation & Communication
- Prepare, review, and distribute technical documentation and quarterly standards updates.
- Revise Husky Standards documents for public websites.
- Issue notifications and reports on standards changes.
- Work with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality) to integrate standards into workflows.
- Deliver training on standards, tools, and methods (GD&T, Teamcenter, Baan and Teamcenter integration).
- Act as primary contact for GD&T training supplier.
- Workflow & System Support
- Administer commercial items and engineering change request workflows.
- Configure product development sites and manage user access and security of content. (SharePoint)
- Coordinate software upgrades and maintain related tools (like FMEA Pro & LeanCOST)
- Participate in standardization and improvement initiatives.
- Support knowledge management and SharePoint configuration.

Qualifications
Education
- University engineering degree or equivalent (Mechanical, Industrial, or related field)
- Work experience in development of methods, tools or standards are a plus
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience.
Skills and Abilities
- Excellent communication and strong writing and presentation skills
- Strong written skills for creating technical documentation
- Excellent understanding of engineering principles
- Familiarity with international and industry standards (e.g. ISO, ASTM, SAE, etc.)
- Knowledge of quality processes (e.g. ISO 9001, 8D, Six Sigma, Lean, DFX, etc.) is an advantage
- Attention to details, precision in reviewing documentation
- Ability to manage timelines and coordinate activities with other team members
- Knowledge of Unigraphics and/or other 3D CAD software
- Proficiency in MS Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, SharePoint) and SharePoint Online
- Demonstrated learning abilities and strong research and information literacy
- Demonstrated ability to work both autonomously, and as part of a team
- Commitment to working with integrity and honesty
- Strong interpersonal skills
Knowledge and Attitude
- A strong desire to learn about information management, how to improve current methods, standards and tools and dedicated to helping others
- Hands-on - comfortable working with digital resources
