Logistics Supervisor – Warehouse (Greenford, UB6 8PW, United Kingdom)

Purpose
Reporting to the Logistics Manager and General Warehouse Manager, the Logistics Supervisor supports the line manager to supervise, delegate, and assist in the maintenance of all stock and systems within the warehouse. The role involves maintaining up‑to‑date knowledge of stock sales, holdings and returns using the Company’s reports; identifying and using available reports to remain commercial and maximise storage utilisation; communicating fully with the management team regarding stock quality or quantity problems; helping maintain accurate replenishment levels; and encouraging a “handle with care” treatment of all products.
Role and Responsibilities
- Delivery:
- Run delivery shifts and delegate specific tasks to staff.
- Oversee and check all delivery invoices, ensuring they are filed for reference.
- Notify the Logistics team and General Warehouse Manager of any shortages or overages during delivery, fill out correct correspondence, and report discrepancies.
- Inbound:
- Manage inventory and locate items in a timely manner to ensure smooth warehouse operation.
- Assist in unloading deliveries.
- Outbound:
- Arrange transportation for parcel delivery to customers.
- Communicate with third‑party delivery companies to arrange goods collection.
- Assist in loading trucks.
- Systems:
- Maintain awareness of all stock transfers, ensure they are processed in the interface and approved by the manager.
- Keep warehouse and storage tubs organised, communicating information to all personnel.
- Protect and upkeep all products to minimise stock loss and write‑offs.
- Communicate with the store management team.
- Write‑Offs:
- Aid the manager in identifying faulty goods for write‑off purposes.
- Support the team by keeping staff aware of all deliveries and stock systems.
- Reports and Levels:
- Remain conversant with all reports, working with management and merchandising to ensure appropriate stock levels.
- Assist in twice‑yearly stock takes.
- Security:
- Responsible for running twice‑yearly stock takes.
- Assist the management team with general security of stock.
- Fill incident reports for delivery discrepancies or unusual occurrences.
- Maintain warehouse security, liaising with the General Warehouse Manager and Area Manager on potential problems.
- Health & Safety:
- Comply with the Company Health & Safety Policy at all times.
- Assist the management team with all health and safety aspects, communicating potential problems.
- Ensure “manual handling” best practice is followed in the store.
- Keep fire exits clear at all times.
- Ensure cleaning of all equipment after use.
- Maintain social distancing where necessary in the warehouse.
- General:
- Flexibility to work varied hours, including late shifts, weekends, and bank holidays.
- Knowledge and Skills:
- Highly organised with the ability to adapt quickly to strategic change.
- Self‑starter who takes initiative.
- Motivated to achieve and exceed goals.
- Education and Experience:
- Previous experience in logistics or as a stock controller managing deliveries.
- Use of pump trucks.
- Additional Information:
- May be requested to work in other UK locations from time to time.
- Responsible for the logistics team – sorting of deliveries, stock transfers, and stock/location management.
- Abilities to use Microsoft Excel.
- Hours:
- Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, 40 hours per week.
