Salary: $70,000 - $80,000 per annum

We are seeking an Intermediate Automation Engineer to support the design, development, and maintenance of automation systems within our production environment. This role will play a key part in implementing automation solutions, troubleshooting equipment, and collaborating with cross‑functional teams to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety.

Responsibilities of the role:

  • Design, program, test, and deploy automated systems, including robotics, PLCs, HMIs, and vision systems.
  • Contribute to electrical design activities such as component selection, panel layout, and schematic preparation.
  • Participate in the installation, commissioning, and validation of new automated equipment.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and perform root cause analysis on automation and control systems.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, including system designs, operation manuals, SOPs, and technical reports.
  • Provide training and technical support to operators and maintenance staff.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and monitor system performance to ensure optimal uptime and reliability.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualification:

  • Post‑secondary education in Electrical, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in automation or industrial controls (internship or co‑op experience considered an asset).
  • Proficient in PLC programming (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with CAD tools such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
  • Hands‑on experience with pneumatics, motors, and control hardware.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills with a proactive, hands‑on approach.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills.
