A leading healthcare institution in Rugby is seeking an experienced LCS Nursing Manager & Responsible Assessor to manage the nursing team and oversee lung cancer screening processes. The successful candidate will work closely with clinicians, ensure adherence to quality standards, and provide leadership and training to staff. Key responsibilities include clinical auditing, interdepartmental liaising, and managing patient flow. This is an opportunity to join a healthcare provider recognized for its commitment to excellence and quality patient care.
The Lung Cancer Screening Programme (LCS) is designed to enable early detection of lung cancer, improving patient outcomes and saving lives. With approval from the National Screening Committee, the programme is set to be implemented nationwide by 2028/29.
This programme targets individuals aged 55–74 with a history of smoking who are registered with participating GP practices. Patients are assessed for lung cancer risk through telephone screening using an accredited risk assessment tool. Advanced systems identify high‑risk individuals, who are then scheduled for low‑dose CT scans, enabling early detection and better treatment options.
The LCS Nursing Manager & Responsible Assessor will work alongside and support our experienced LCSNM to oversee the effective management of the LCS nursing team and screening review meetings (SRM). You will have direct line‑management responsibility for our LCS nursing team.
As the programme’s joint Responsible Assessor (RA), you will collaborate closely with responsible clinicians and radiologists from the local trusts within a robust clinical governance structure.
Secondment will be considered for internal candidates. If you are successful after interview, you must obtain approval from your current line manager to accept the offer.
Successful applicants will be required to provide an immunisation and vaccination report, from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP.
