Summary

Dorchester County Board of Disabilities and Special Needs is seeking a Residence Manager to assist the Residential Coordinator with the management of various CTH II homes.

Summary of Duties

Instructs and assists the Direct Support Professional staff and other designated personnel within a community residence, in the supervision, care and training of the residents; responsible for the operation and maintenance of the physical residence in compliance with applicable standards. Assists in ensuring all consumers in the home are afforded the utmost in personal choice, community integration and autonomy. Assist the Residential Coordinator with his/her duties as assigned.

Typical Physical Demands

Must possess the ability to lift up to 50 pounds; may be required to perform physical restraint of individuals exhibiting challenging behaviors; ability to perform heavy lifting and lifting of adult individuals as necessary; ability to move intermittently throughout the work day; sitting, standing, bending, reaching, pulling, pushing and lifting with frequent repetitive motions; possible physical interventions with individuals who are upset and combative; is subject to lifting and carrying adult consumers.

Typical Working Conditions

Ability to relate to and work with developmentally disabled individuals; is involved with personnel, visitors, and individuals under all conditions and circumstances; ability to communicate effectively with individuals served, families, co-workers, and visitors; is willing to work beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary; is willing to work in other positions as needed; maintains a liaison with individuals served, their families, support departments and other pertinent agencies; is subject to working in and out of doors, and may be subject to various temperature and weather conditions; is subject to working in loud environments and around equipment that may potentially cause bodily harm; may be subject to working with hazardous equipment or chemicals.

Examples of Duties
  • Maintains residence staffing in compliance with applicable DHEC, Medicaid, OIDD and agency standards
  • Inspects and evaluates facilities, equipment and supplies; makes routine purchases; reviews and approves purchase orders for groceries and household supplies.
  • Observes, instructs and assists new employees in training and providing care for individuals within the residence.
  • Monitors client training, behavior programs and recreational data weekly for proper implementation.
  • Makes staff assignments for recreational activities; informs staff of details for activities; prepare (money, equipment) for all trips.
  • Maintains accountability for individuals and levels of supervision in compliance with OIDD and agency standards.
  • Manages individuals’ personal accounts (obtain checks, calculates maintenance fee, deducts from total, deposits balance, maintains correct on-going balance in ledgers, monitors expenditures).
  • Reviews all goals and objectives on a monthly basis; updates and revises as needed for consumers along with Coordinator/Residential Director.
  • Performs duties as food service supervisor; maintains food service as required by DHEC.
  • Devises fire drill schedule and follow-up to be sure the drills are completed.
  • Maintain contact with Coordinator for staff, consumer or individual emergencies; as well as contacting the family member if needed.
  • Maintains residence in accordance with licensing standards, paying particular attention to sanitation and safety standards (see Licensing Standards). Also review yearly fire, electrical and heating/air conditioning inspection scheduling.
  • Completes residence licensing checks weekly.
  • Provides for arrangements of immediate repair of maintenance problems/broken items following agency procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education
  • High school diploma or GED with three years of Human Services experience or
  • Bachelor’s degree in human services or a related field preferred
