Laboratory Supervisor – Component & Systems

Job Description
  • Control of work ticket system between engineering and technician teams to ensure jobs are staffed promptly and effectively. This also requires exposure of labour to different areas of the Component & Systems business to promote skill diversity.
    • Assists team members in interpreting and completing tasks.
    • Conducts reviews with Engineering team as required.
    • Helps to prioritise and hand over work between shifts.
    • Motivate and mentor team members to achieve and exceed departmental goals.
    • Promote a can-do attitude and a positive working environment.
  • Conduct Objective Setting and Mid-Year Reviews for the technician team.
  • Facilitate/support to ensure update of all SQCDP data relevant to the technician team.
  • Control of Workplace Inspections relevant to the technician team ensuring tasks are completed on time and follow up actions are closed out.
  • Leads aspects of laboratory maintenance and repair.
    • Works with Site Services on issues surrounding laboratory maintenance or repairs.
    • Highlight, report and rectify safety issues in the laboratory.
  • Approve working hours (timesheets), and holiday requests for the technician team.
  • Continue and improve initiatives to reduce waste and optimize efficiency.
  • Assisting technician team in procurement and ordering of consumables.
  • Reporting to and supporting the Senior Manager Component & Systems Leyland.
  • Collaboration with other Laboratory Supervisors both in Leyland and Bedford sites to develop best practices and awareness of Health & Safety and Quality issues.
  • Act in accordance with the behaviours for UTAC staff at all times.

Skills

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, approachable.

Experience

  • Experience in automotive and/or testing background.

Qualifications

  • Willing to undergo a Criminal Disclosure check.
  • NOTE: This is a Leyland site based position.
