Job description

The Haaland CNA assists resident with Activities of Daily Living. The job is a multifaceted position with many elements aside from nursing.

Job Requirements
  • Must possess a positive feeling for the elderly and be able to work well with them. Good communication skills.
  • High school education.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant certification (training available). There will be a training wage.
  • Experience preferred but not required.
Job Responsibilities
  • Assist resident in performing personal hygiene to include baths, showers or sponge bathing.
  • Offer resident minimal assistance with ADL’s. Encourage resident to remain as independent as possible, while understanding some days may require added assistance.
  • Perform resident foot soaks and provides nail care.
  • Monitor resident hair care, provide hair shampoos as needed.
  • Encourage resident to perform oral hygiene, assists as needed.
  • Monitor resident bowel/bladder control and changing of protective garments, assist as needed.
  • Monitor resident daily clothing attire and changing of soiled clothing. Intervene as needed for cleanliness and appropriateness of dress.
  • Inspect resident room for soiled laundry, perishables food items and unnecessary clutter. Maintain environment as need for sanitary and safety measures.
  • Answer signal lights in a timely manner.
  • Obtain weights and vital signs (Blood pressure, Temperature, pulse, respiration, and oxygen saturation) as assigned and needed and chart appropriately.
  • Complete nightly and weekly duties as assigned on worksheet.
  • Provides resident admission orientation and completes admission checklist.
  • Carry out emergency procedures and participates in practice drills.
  • Administers designated medications as listed under specific delegation protocol.
  • Assists resident with packing belongings for discharge, transfer or appointments.
  • Assist in dining room with carrying plates. Assist in opening containers, cutting meat or as needed.
  • Assist as needed with death procedures.
  • Gives necessary information to Charge Nurse regarding residents.
  • Reports all resident concerns or problems to Charge Nurse.
  • Reports facility problems to appropriate department.
  • Operates intercom system.
  • Supervisory responsibilities.
  • Oversees resident health and safety during the night shift.
  • Performs emergency measures per facility protocol.
  • Contacts hospital PCC for direction for any resident concerns that are out of C.N.A. scope of expertise.
  • Laundry and Housekeeping responsibilities.
  • All other duties as assigned.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Basic care environment that is staffed 24 hour a day with licensed personal. Daily contact with physicians, staff, geriatric residents, and the community.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Requires full range of body motion, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires working under stressful conditions or irregular hours. Requires some exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, hazardous material and other conditions common toa health care environment.
