This role requires compassion and involves practical and emotional support to help service users achieve personal outcomes. Full training is provided, and shifts may include days, nights, and weekends. Perfect for compassionate individuals looking to make a difference in their community while supporting those with mental health and substance misuse challenges.
Do you have a passion for helping vulnerable people enjoy as much fulfilment as they can and feel included in their community? If compassion, care and inclusiveness are an important part of who you are, our opportunities to work away from the routine in a demanding, challenging but emotionally rewarding role could be for you.
Our Turning Point Scotland Services in Inverclyde are looking for people like you to help provide individualised support to adults with a wide range of needs, either on an individual 1:1 basis or alongside others and as part of a team.
The service Turning Point Scotland Inverclyde Housing Support is designed to meet the requirements of people with complex needs arising from their mental health issues and/or substance misuse. The service was set up as part of the redesign of mental health services within Inverclyde, shifting the balance of care into a community based provision. Most of the individuals we support have a moderate to severe mental illness and some have difficulties in relation to alcohol and drug misuse. Some of the individuals whom we support require assistance with their personal care and social functioning. The aim of the service is to promote a safe and secure lifestyle for service users while maximising their capacity for independence and reintegration into the local community.
The support we provide is tailored to suit the needs of each individual. The service operates 24/7 and gives support to 11 individuals in their own tenancies within a secure building, controlled and operated by support staff. The service also provides outreach supports to a number of individuals within the Inverclyde area.
As a Relief Support Practitioner, you will work with individuals who have a wide range of support needs, providing them with practical and emotional support and encouraging them to achieve their own personal outcomes in all aspects of their daily lives, e.g.: keeping safe, meaningful activities, community involvement, physical health, relationships, emotional health and wellbeing.
The service users are involved in this process through people who know the person well, including family and friends, other health and social work professionals, advocacy services and our own staff members.
TurnPoint Scotland Inverclyde services are operational throughout the full year with shifts including days, nights, sleepovers, waking nights, weekends and public holidays including Christmas Day, New Year, Easter etc.
