About the Role

As the Engineering Director for the Nuclear UK branch, you will provide technical expertise and support for ongoing EPR design projects, in particular Hinkley Point C and Sizewell C. You will represent Egis at industry events such as technical conferences and seminars in the UK and internationally, and coordinate with the Technical Directorate in France to ensure overall consistency in sharing experiences, tools, skills, and technical expertise.

Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership: Lead strategic initiatives aimed at elevating EGIS\' prominence in the international nuclear sector, including reactors, SMR/AMR, fusion, nuclear fuel and radioactive waste management and defence. Develop long-term plans, identify growth prospects, and align technical capabilities with organisational objectives.
  • Technical Oversight and Coordination: Provide technical authority and coordination across EGIS’ international engineering competence centres covering reactor systems and components; mechanical, electrical and HVAC; I&C; nuclear safety, licensing and safety cases; fuel handling, operations, maintenance and decommissioning interfaces. Ensure technical consistency, harmonised methodologies, and efficient use of global resources across projects.
  • Team Management and Development: Lead project teams of technical professionals dispersed globally, fostering collaboration, innovation, and excellence. Recruit top talent, provide mentorship, and facilitate professional development.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Cultivate relationships with clients, regulatory bodies, industry partners, and government agencies. Communicate effectively, negotiate and collaborate to achieve objectives and uphold Egis\' reputation as a nuclear energy leader.
  • Quality Assurance and Compliance: Ensure adherence to quality standards and regulatory requirements across nuclear reactor power projects. Implement quality management systems, conduct audits, and drive continuous improvement for safety and efficiency.
  • Nuclear Safety Assurance: Prioritise nuclear safety throughout all project stages, implementing rigorous safety protocols and complying with regulatory requirements to mitigate risks.
  • Promotion of Nuclear Safety Culture: Promote a strong nuclear safety culture within Egis and with partners and stakeholders. Encourage safety in every aspect of operations and open communication about safety issues.
  • Compliance with International Standards: Ensure projects adhere to the highest international standards for nuclear safety (IAEA, WANO) and national regulatory requirements. Assess compliance with safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Bid Management and Delivery Oversight: Participate in bidding activities and verify technical compliance and support throughout delivery. Ensure bids meet technical specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensuring Timely Project Delivery: Deliver projects on time, maintaining efficiency across the project lifecycle.

What do we need from you
  • Bachelor\'s or Master\'s degree in Nuclear Engineering or related field.
  • Over 15 years of extensive experience in nuclear engineering, project management, and technical support for bidding and tender document preparation.
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements and standards in the nuclear industry.
  • Strong leadership skills, capable of leading teams effectively in both leading and non-leading capacities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for seamless collaboration.
  • Proficiency in various nuclear technologies, including LWR, PHWR, etc.
  • Willingness to travel internationally for project-related activities.
  • Proficiency in English; knowledge of French and other languages is an asset.

Note: Given the nature of the work, role holders may be required to undergo Basic Security Clearance (BPSS).
