Excellence is never accidental; it’s created by people who care deeply, think smartly, and work with intent. We exist to bring our brands and journalism to life through live experiences and to foster genuine connections on and off stage that inspire people to part with their time and money.

Your Role: As an Event Manager, you are a dynamic delivery specialist within the News Live engine, accountable for the seamless execution of small-to-medium scale events across our iconic brands. You will be an organised, high-energy executor who thrives on the details and can turn a project plan into a world-class live experience. Reporting into the team leadership, you will ensure every touchpoint reflects our world-renowned journalism, leading on smaller activations while collaborating as a core member of the team on larger-scale projects.

Responsibilities
  • Take full ownership of assigned events from the initial brief through to flawless execution and strategic analysis.
  • Create and manage detailed project timelines to ensure all critical milestones are met by the wider team.
  • Act as the primary contact for event sponsors, managing expectations and ensuring high levels of satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with designers and agencies to align production with the creative vision.
  • Manage financial forecasting, billing, and spend reconciliation to ensure the financial success of every project.
  • Offer creative solutions to logistical challenges, acting as an expert advisor on event propositions.
  • Build trust with internal teams like Editorial, Commercial, and Marketing to provide guidance on production feasibility.
  • Negotiate with suppliers and venues to secure high-quality services that drive value.
  • Utilise project management tools like Smartsheet and Slack daily to maintain real-time transparency of projects.
  • Lead on-site delivery, overseeing stakeholders, suppliers, setup, and de-rig to ensure a perfect attendee experience.
What we're looking for
  • Experience in organising small and medium-scale events, including virtual, experiential, and brand communications.
  • Experience managing project budgets and maintaining profitability through strong financial literacy.
  • Demonstrable understanding of how live events can bring brand values and journalism to life.
  • Technical knowledge of event streaming and digital delivery platforms.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously within fast-paced environments.
  • Proficiency in using project management tools to track and report on progress.
  • Collaborative approach to working within diverse project groups and internal departments.
  • Clear communication skills used to produce regular reports on evaluation, ticket sales, and feedback.
  • Creative problem-solving skills applied to logistical and operational challenges.
  • Flexibility to travel and work evenings or weekends as required by the event calendar.

Note: If you think you have what it takes but don’t tick every requirement on the list, please do apply. We recognise that considering someone’s potential as well as their experience is a great way to hire. We want to hear from people who have a passion to learn and develop.
