A leading energy supplier in the UK is seeking a Fleet Engineering Manager to enhance fleet operations and ensure reliability and safety. The role involves leading a maintenance team, managing vehicle performance, and ensuring compliance with transport legislation. Candidates should have experience in vehicle engineering, excellent communication skills, and a valid HGV mechanic qualification. This position offers a discretionary bonus, enhanced pension scheme, and 25 holidays plus bank holidays.
As a Fleet Engineering Manager, you will play a critical role in powering the performance, safety, and reliability of our fleet operations. With your technical expertise and leadership you’ll drive a proactive safety culture, lead investigations into fleet‑related incidents, and ensure our maintenance strategy keeps vehicles on the road and operating at their best. You’ll lead a dedicated team, oversee day‑to‑day workshop operations, and manage supplier performance to ensure quality, compliance, and cost efficiency. Through your leadership, our fleet will run smarter, safer, and stronger—delivering exceptional service and driving business growth.
Promote a positive safety culture in line with safety first principles including leading and supporting investigations into fleet related incidents.
To conduct relevant investigations into vehicle/safety issues providing technical leadership and expertise.
Lead and line manage the Fleet Maintenance team, including recruitment, development and engagement.
Lead the operation of the maintenance team; managing vehicle breakdowns, workshop performance and planned gas maintenance.
To manage key suppliers on their performance and improvement, and develop best practice.
Ensuring effective relationships are maintained between the department and colleagues in other functions (including Planning, Operations, and Sales).
