Job description

Location: Home based with National Travel

Job Purpose

Working within Keys Group Adult Clinical Services across England and Wales, the postholder will provide direct and indirect clinical input to adults in Learning Disability, Mental Health and Acquired Brain Injury services. As a member of the Adult Clinical Senior Leadership Team, they will work alongside National Lead Nurses and the National Clinical Director to develop the National Clinical Strategy and clinical policies, provide specialist clinical advice and training to operational colleagues, and line manage allocated clinicians.

The role includes undertaking capacity and risk assessments, developing support plans, and providing consultation and interventions in collaboration with the wider clinical team. This is an autonomous leadership role requiring a highly organised and responsive clinician who can manage competing priorities safely and effectively. The postholder will provide visible and accessible clinical leadership for ABI across the organisation, working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders while consistently demonstrating the organisational values of Excellence, Passion, Integrity and Caring.

Clinical
  • Contribute to the development of the Clinical Team’s National Strategy and the review and updating of clinical policies.
  • Provide specialist advice and guidance on ABI and neurological conditions to Keys Group colleagues.
  • Develop, implement and review person‑centred support plans and risk assessments, ensuring co‑production and communication in individuals’ preferred formats.
  • Undertake appropriate assessments and interventions using evidence‑based models and tools, complementing and enhancing statutory services.
  • Ensure practice aligns with NICE guidelines and provide guidance on the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act.
  • Provide specialist neuro‑psychological consultation to staff and, where appropriate, families and other professionals.
  • Contribute to or lead Pre‑Admission Meetings, Complex Case Discussions and Mortality Reviews.
  • Work collaboratively with safeguarding colleagues in line with Keys Group safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Deliver trauma‑informed, person‑centred care and communicate respectfully and compassionately with all stakeholders.
  • Maintain professional boundaries, ensure robust risk management, and report all accidents and incidents.
  • Provide safe, effective, responsive, caring and well‑led clinical support in line with CQC and CIW regulatory requirements.
Teaching / Training / Supervision / Consultation
  • Provide training, advice and skills‑sharing to care teams and internal and external professionals as appropriate.
  • Offer specialist neuro‑psychological consultation and guidance on assessment and intervention approaches to multidisciplinary colleagues.
  • Support, guide and supervise students and trainees
Policy and Service Development
  • Participate in meetings related to the delivery, planning and development of clinical services.
  • Contribute to the development of operational policies and service delivery through agreed project work.
  • Advise service and professional leads on ABI‑related service issues and take an agreed role in implementing required changes.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with Local Authorities, NHS services and other relevant agencies.
Evaluation / Research / Development
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of current research and apply critical evaluation to support evidence‑based practice across Keys Group services.
  • Support the coordination and administration of agreed outcome measures within the designated region.
  • In agreement with the National Clinical Director for Adults, initiate and undertake research relevant to adults with complex needs.
Professional / Administrative
  • Participate positively in regular management and clinical supervision and annual appraisal processes.
  • Provide regular management and clinical supervision and annual appraisal for allocated supervisees.
  • Produce high‑quality written reports as required.
  • Practice in accordance with professional codes of ethics and guidance (RCN, HCPC) and Keys Group policies and procedures.
  • Uphold Keys Group EPIC values: Excellence, Passion, Integrity and Caring.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and complete required data collection to a high standard.
  • Take reasonable care for personal and others’ health and safety.
  • Undertake additional duties as agreed with the National Clinical Director and meet reasonable travel requirements, including overnight stays.
Person Specification
  • Registered Health Professional (Nurse/OT/Psychologist/SALT).
  • Knowledge of Mental Capacity Act Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults.
  • Knowledge of Risk Management Mental Health Act Neurological conditions.
  • Significant experience in a range of ABI services and other relevant health and care settings.
  • Strong problem solving, conflict resolution and strategic thinking skills.
  • Ability to assess and manage risk and make complex judgements about risk issues.
  • Full driving licence and access to a car.
