A community-focused organization in Worcester seeks an Education Volunteer to inspire children about waterways. This role involves leading outdoor trips, delivering water safety education, and conducting engaging workshops. Volunteers will receive full training, work in a supportive team environment, and must commit to 3-4 activities monthly during school times. This rewarding position also offers opportunities to learn about waterway heritage while inspiring young people.
Being an Explorers Volunteer at Diglis Island and Fish Pass is a rewarding experience. The role is full of variety, flexibility and a lot of fun! We inspire children and young people about the River Severn and the creatures that live there, using the river as a tool to build life skills, raise aspirations and connect children with the great outdoors.
We can offer our Epic Engineering programme, all about the fish pass itself, as well as our new Victorian Engineering programme, which explores how lock gates are made.
Diglis Explorers are a great team at a fantastic location! You\'ll have the chance to work together to deliver the programme and this year we are working on a new offer all about the historic workshops here on the island.
We give you full training and provide resources for leading groups of children, with a number of training days and team meetings. You will have the support of a Learning & Skills Co-ordinator as well as the other volunteers in your team. We reimburse you for all travel costs.

You might be doing one of the following things:
You will need to be able to volunteer flexibly to respond to group requests, committing to 3 or 4 activities a month (usually during school hours and term-time).
This role involves regulated activity with children and adults at risk, as defined by the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012. Therefore, an Enhanced Criminal Record check will be undertaken and references will be sought. A criminal record is not necessarily a bar to volunteering with us.
