Job description
Company Overview

We own and operate a wide range of specialist rail plant. Our teams work in collaboration with our clients on a broad variety of activities, from small installation projects through to large complex engineering schemes across the UK.

Our highly skilled people hold competencies to operate and maintain a variety of on‑track machines such as tampers, ballast regulators, Kirow cranes and RRV’s with specialist attachments.

We work with clients across main‑line railways, depots, overground mass transit networks and tramways, along with private sidings and heritage railways, delivering a variety of projects, including maintenance, overhead line installations, bridge installations and track renewals.

We have a fleet of On‑Track Machines (OTM) working on a long‑term contract with Network Rail to deliver mechanised track maintenance and infrastructure enhancements to help transform and maintain the UK rail network. Today we are also part of the East Coast Digital Programme (ECDP), delivering the European Train Control System (ETCS) on the East Coast South Mainline.

About the Role

We are looking for experienced OTM Driver Maintainer Operators to join our high‑performing organisation with a strong order book and proven record for consistent safe delivery.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for ensuring that the following areas are managed in a professional manner, in accordance with industry and business standards for all disciplines for which you are competent, including:

  • Train driving & route knowledge activities of the OTM fleet.
  • Engineering / Maintenance activities of the OTM fleet.
  • Operational activities of the OTM fleet.
Qualifications
  • Hold a valid European train driver licence.
  • Be currently competent to drive an OTM or other train type.
  • Hold a full UK driving licence.
  • Have a minimum NVQ level 3 in a relevant engineering discipline with significant and demonstrable experience of heavy plant and equipment maintenance.
  • Be flexible in your approach to work and be willing to work nights, weekends, bank holidays and lodge away from home.
  • Be a self‑motivated individual with a pro‑active approach.
  • Have the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Be able to problem‑solve and have good interpersonal skills.
