A little more about your role.

WSP are seeking Drainage Engineers at all grades who specialise in Water, Drainage and Environmental Engineering for transportation infrastructure projects to register their interest for up and coming roles across the team. We support clients and projects throughout the UK with a focus on high profile rail, highway, Local Authority and aviation projects, providing drainage designs from concept through to detail.

As part of the role, you will be responsible for:
  • Delivery of a wide variety of civil engineering projects, such as highway, rail, infrastructure and site development schemes.
  • Delivery of projects from concept through to completion and ensuring they are delivered to a high technical standard, in a timely manner and with commercial success.
  • Delivering a broad range of drainage services for the most significant transport and infrastructure projects in the UK.
At the more Senior grades you will also:
  • Lead client relationships and attend client progress meetings.
  • Manage a team of drainage engineers, supporting their technical development and ensuring they are resourced on projects.

We are looking for candidates from Senior Consultant grade up to Associate Director and are open to location within the UK across our network of modern offices.

What we will be looking for you to demonstrate.
  • Chartered or Incorporated Engineer and/or degree qualified (role dependant)
  • Extensive and proven experience post degree in designing sustainable drainage solutions
  • Knowledge and understanding of drainage design principles and solutions to manage infrastructure drainage
  • Experience in the use of Civil 3D and/or Causeway Flow software/MicroDrainage
  • Proven knowledge of relevant technical standards, UK Building Regulations, Design Standards, Codes of Practice and Health & Safety regulations
  • Successful management of projects/programmes and teams to meet both quality and commercial targets
  • Technical experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • Highway Drainage
    • Rail Drainage
    • Airport Drainage
    • Asset Management
    • Foul water
    • Sustainable foul and surface water drainage design
    • Drainage modelling software (Causeway Flow or Microdrainage)

Civil Engineer (Urban Drainage / Wastewater Networks)

As such, we have an exciting and rewarding opportunity for a Civil Engineer to join our Water Team in Warrington or Manchester.

Our Civil Engineers work across the project lifecycle in asset planning / strategy, concept design, outline design and also detailed design, within our design and build joint ventures. We work on a variety of project sectors across the UK and Ireland, including clean water treatment and networks, wastewater treatment, wastewater networks, flooding, and urban drainage.

You’ll be responsible for the development of the civil engineering design, guided by our Project Technical Leads and Senior / Principal Civil Engineers within the team. You will also have the opportunity to work on frameworks across the UK and Ireland, collaborating with colleagues, external organisations, partners & stakeholders nationwide.

About You

You’ll have a degree in Civil Engineering and be incorporated or Chartered / working toward Chartered status with a relevant professional body such as ICE or CIWEM.

You will also have a passion for the Water & Environment sector, with experience of delivering community focused projects and working collaboratively with project teams to develop innovative solutions. This will include experience achieved in wastewater infrastructure, such as the delivery of sewer flooding and pollution projects, ideally with a focus on Sustainable Urban Drainage and Surface Water Management.

Finally, you will have experience of working in a client facing role, leading client engagement and collaboration on a regular basis.
