CUSTOMS COMPLIANCE ASSISTANT (PERMANENT FULL-TIME) (REMOTE/OFFICE BASED)


Salary range: £24,000 - £26,000 (Dependent on Experience).


Location: Remote/Office Based.


Role: Full-Time, Permanent


Work Pattern: Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm.


We are looking for a highly motivated, driven person who can multitask and carry out this role on their own initiative by working alongside our group Head of Compliance.


JOB SPECIFICATION

HANNON Transport is one of Ireland's leading international refrigerated and general hauliers dealing with the daily transportation of chilled, frozen and dry freight.


In order to support its transport business, HANNON Customs is a dedicated team to ensure that all customs requirements are met with regard to the movements of goods in Ireland, UK and Europe. In addition, due to increased growth, the HANNON Customs team has expanded to provide its customs services to external customers.


This role presents an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to gain valuable expertise and experience in a high-growth sector and to benefit from significant development within the role.


You will work closely with our Head of Customs Compliance to ensure that all our customs business activities are carried out correctly and fulfil all their legal obligations. Full internal and external training will be provided, therefore previous experience of working in a customs related or compliance role is not essential.


RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES INCLUDE


  • Checking the accuracy of information submitted within customs declarations and their supporting documentation.

  • Remaining up to date with all customs related requirements by way of internal and external training.

  • Compiling, maintaining and reviewing internal compliance reports.

  • Liaising and working with our Head of Compliance for the purpose of SMT meetings and reporting.

  • Identifying risks and suggested remedial actions.

  • Reviewing and identifying operational gaps within our Standard Operating Procedures in respect of our customs related business activities.

  • Assisting in the preparation and maintenance of our AEOC accreditations in respect of our UK and Irish customs activities.

  • Carrying out and reporting on periodical compliance checks across all of our existing customs authorisations.

  • Ensuring that all import/export measures including any licensing requirements are met and correctly declared.

  • Completing as required to do so, customer and goods risk screening.

  • The role will involve supporting and assisting our customs operations team as required.


ESSENTIAL CRITERIA


  • A minimum of 5 GCSEs or equivalent at grade C (Maths & English) and two A Levels at grade C.

  • ICT related experience (Microsoft Packages).

  • Ability to multi-task, work as part of a team and work to tight deadlines.

  • Strong communication and analytical skills.


DESIRABLE CRITERIA

Whilst previous experience gained in a role involving compliance auditing or accuracy checking is helpful it is not essential.
