Reports to: Cricket Programmes Lead

Remuneration: £24,400

We are looking for a passionate, organised and people focused team player to support the delivery of inclusive and inspiring cricket programmes. Collaborating with colleagues in our new national Cricket Participation team.

You will help deliver opportunities via coaching sessions to participants, which attract and retain players, volunteers and officials – making cricket A Sport for All.

You will collaborate with schools, community groups, clubs, partners and key funding stakeholders to help deliver cricket sessions, competitions, events and develop new exciting ways to get involved in the game. From supporting junior cricket in schools to working in community cricket projects to helping inspire participants and volunteers, you will play a key role in bringing our vision of Cricket, A Sport for All to life.

Cricket Wales recently launched a brand new, exciting and dynamic strategy developed in partnership with Glamorgan Cricket to ensure that cricket in Wales thrives now and into the future. At the heart of this vision is our commitment to Cricket, A Sport for All, ensuring people of all ages and backgrounds have exciting and meaningful ways to engage with the sport. By offering clear, compelling and innovative programmes we aim to enhance the cricketing experience and grow our community offer.

Key responsibilities
  • To grow, support and widen all forms of cricket being played by delivering key partner programmes
  • Programmes include Chance to Shine and Street, Lord Tavenors ALN and Disability Programmes, Wicketz, MCC Foundation Hubs and ECB sponsored programmes in schools’ communities and club junior setting
  • Collaborate with the Cricket Programmes Lead to develop opportunities and structures to facilitate and ensure Cricket is a Sport for All
  • To deliver assembly visits, teachers training, young leaders awards and other initiatives to encourage school engagement and sustainability of cricket coaching in schools
  • To mentor teachers, coaches and other stakeholders to deliver high quality cricket activities supporting teachers/community volunteers with relevant resources e.g. Chance to Shine Teacher resources etc
  • To deliver and support cricket competitions within (intra) and between (inter_) participating schools. This will include delivery and organisation of: – Dynamos Schools Festivals, Chance to Compete and Inclusive ALN festivals and Table Cricket Competitions
  • Ensure we deliver key partner KPI targets and ensure all data is captured on relevant partner IT portals on a timely and accurate basis
  • To collaborate with the identified clubs in building capacity to run and organise additional junior opportunities such as ECB National Programmes leading to club teams that play in structured junior league cricket and festivals
  • Engage with wider partners capable of contributing towards Cricket Wales strategic outcomes and adding value to the Cricket Wales offer (e.g. Local Authority Sports Development departments, local community clubs, community partners, EYST, Street Games etc)
Required Skills and Experience
  • Experience working in sport, community development or programme delivery
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Experience in using data management portals
  • A team player with a proactive and positive attitude
  • Ability to work with a range of stakeholders and support inclusive, community-led initiatives
  • A passion for creating positive experiences in sport
  • Knowledge of grassroots or community cricket in Wales or the UK
  • Familiarity with volunteer support and event co-ordination
  • Confidence using technology to support programme delivery and communications
  • Welsh language proficiency, or willingness to develop Welsh language skills
Required Qualifications
  • Having or working towards ECB Core Coach or ECB Level 2 Cricket coaching qualification. Foundation or Level 1 cricket coaching qualification is essential
  • Attended Safeguarding & Protecting Children ECB Courses
  • First Aid Qualification
  • Enhanced DBS check (upon appointment) registered with the ECB
Additional role information

Chance to Shine and Lord Taverners training will be provided for the successful candidates. Other relevant training will also be provided as required to support the role. Appropriate coaching clothing and equipment will be provided to successful candidates. This post is supported by ECB, Lord Taverners, Chance to shine, MCC Foundation and Cricket Wales. The initial role is offered on a fixed term contract subject to successful probation period.
