Overview

Creative Directors are sought to guide the growth of the community-led brand for East London Waterworks Park, a charity creating a new biodiverse park with free access natural swimming ponds, outdoor learning spaces, and community infrastructure on the 14-acre Thames Water Depot site at Lea Bridge Road (border of Waltham Forest and Hackney).

What you’ll do

You will participate in the charity’s community-led working group to communicate the work of the charity and help grow the brand as we create green community spaces. You will contribute to brand activations that inspire, educate, and engage volunteers, stakeholders, funders, and the general public, supporting the park’s mission and long-term sustainability.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and articulate a compelling creative vision aligned with the charity’s mission.
  • Build, evolve, and maintain a strong, consistent brand identity across all touchpoints.
  • Lead creative teams to produce high-quality, impactful content.
  • Craft narratives that communicate the charity’s impact and inspire action across media.
  • Develop and execute creative campaigns to reach target audiences and achieve organisational goals.
  • Engage diverse communities, facilitate co-design workshops, and communicate complex ideas accessibly.
  • Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams, applying systems thinking to project work.

What you will be doing (context)

East London Waterworks Park is a volunteer-led charity that won a 2024 New London Architecture award and has raised £2m to purchase land from the Department for Education. The goal is to transform the 14-acre Thames Water Depot into a biodiverse park with natural swimming ponds, forest schools, and community spaces. The Creative Directors will participate in the community-led working group that communicates the charity’s work and helps grow the brand with a network of 350+ architects, teachers, researchers, campaigners, and communications professionals.

The Communications Circle currently meets fortnightly on Tuesday evenings via Google Meet and volunteers contribute outside of meetings to complete agreed tasks remotely.
