Lewes District Community Action Network (LD CAN), is delivered by SCDA and funded by ESCC, and aims to support community & VCSE groups in Lewes District to grow stronger, work together, and make a bigger impact.
We offer practical help such as training, small grants, and advice to help groups run well and stay resilient. We support leaders - especially from underrepresented communities - to have a voice in local decisions and shape a fairer future. We bring people and organisations together to share ideas, build partnerships, and support each other through challenges. We also promote volunteering as a powerful way for people to connect, contribute, and make a difference in their communities.
In this role, you will work with Lewes District VCSE organisations ensuring effective communications and promotion of local and neighbourhood VCSE activity, including activities, network events & training courses. You will create regular engaging content & update LD CAN pages on the SCDA website, and across relevant social media forums promoting training opportunities, advising of available resources and sharing Lewes District VCSE news.
With responsibility for managing training bookings and venues for training and network events, you will also work closely with the community development team and local community organisations to help coordinate & deliver events as needed.
SCDA is looking for people to join our team who have the qualities and skills we feel would most benefit our clients & service users; professionalism, empathy, kindness and understanding. In return, we understand people want to work in a supportive environment with friendly colleagues. We offer a flexible approach to delivery wherever possible, annual leave of 23 days per year pro rata plus bank holidays and sick pay from the start (increasing with service), additional sick pay for required operations and recovery, a pension scheme, bereavement leave, and managers who are available to you… plus a day off for your birthday!
You may think that you’re not a 100% match to what we’re looking for, but we recognise that some skills and experience may be transferable rather than an exact match. If you’re unsure about whether to apply, please do contact the HR team on hr@sussexcommunity.org.uk and we would be happy to arrange an informal discussion with the recruiting manager.
