Job Summary

A vacancy has arisen within the Surgery Care Group for a motivated and enthusiastic person to support the unit managers in a Junior leadership role within the Endoscopy Services as a band 6 clinical sister/charge nurse on the Bishop Auckland site. We are entering a phased period of development within the Endoscopy Service across the trust with lots of exciting development opportunities.

Responsibilities
  • Work with the Endoscopy team to deliver high quality care within a comprehensive clinical governance framework.
  • Create an environment that promotes excellence in nursing practice and empowers staff to develop high levels of clinical skill.
  • Deputise in the day‑to‑day management of the unit in the absence of the band 7.
  • Collaborate closely with senior nursing, medical and senior management colleagues.
  • Provide support to the band 7, Matron and General Management team to deliver strong leadership and development of the endoscopy MDT.
  • Facilitate audit processes and the delivery of JAG standards, ensuring governance processes are met and first‑class care is provided.
  • Provide on‑call support and work clinically to support services within Endoscopy.
Qualifications
  • Nursing Degree or equivalent qualification leading to NMC registration Part 1 of the NMC register.
  • Valid NMC PIN and evidence of continual professional development.
Experience
  • Experience in a post within Endoscopy.
  • Experience of leading, motivating and supporting a team.
Essential Skills & Knowledge
  • Teaching skills.
  • Evidence of effective problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
  • Good leadership skills.
  • IT skills.
  • Knowledge of JAG requirements and ability to articulate this effectively.
Desirable Skills & Qualifications
  • Leadership courses.
  • Relevant degree or willingness to work towards one.
  • Endoscopy related courses.
