Job description

The Clinical Apprenticeship Manager will manage the clinical apprenticeship agenda to ensure that all clinical apprentices are recruited, line‑managed, and placed appropriately, in line with regulatory requirements. The role involves maintaining an optimal learning environment and ensuring that Practice Assessors, Practice Supervisors, and Clinical Educators are suitably trained and latent to support apprentices. Responsibilities
  1. Manage clinical student apprenticeship_digits recruitment processes in partnership with Higher Education Institutions, ensuring the recruitment of high‑calibre students in accordance with internal and external governance.
  2. Manage apprenticeship placement capacity and allocation processes, liaising with HEIs, Clinical Managers, Team Leaders, Assessors, Supervisors, Educators and Administrators.
  3. Collaborate with the Widening Participation and Training Lead to expand placement capacity across the organisation.
  4. Facilitate the development of Practice Assessors, Practice Supervisors and Clinical Educators so they possess the knowledge, skills, and attitude required to assess, train and develop apprentices.
  5. Maintain the Nursing and Midwifery Practice Assessor database and the Clinical Educator database alongside Pre and.Storage managers, ensuring all staff are registered and compliant.
  6. Ensure that all registers are maintained in line with NMC and HCPC regulations and that apprenticeship administration processes provide the necessary assurances to the Trust, HEIs and regulatory bodies.
  7. Manage the clinical educational audit process with Nursing and AHP managers, ensuring compliance and suitable learning environments across all placement areas.
  8. Participate in the Fitness for Practice and DBS panel processes in partnership with HEIs.
  9. Support apprentices on assessments and action planning, communicating difficult information about placement termination or failure to achieve outcomes when necessary.
  10. Act as the key contact for complaints and concerns related to clinical apprentices.
  11. Mediate conflicts between apprentices and practice staff, coordinating with division staff and HEIs.
  12. Advise, inform and guide stakeholders on curriculum delivery.
  13. Support staff recruitment by communicating opportunities to students and Trusts.
  14. Collaborate with Health Education England to advise on nursing/AHP apprenticeships and funding.

  16. Advise and communicate with the Trust and partner organisations on complex apprenticeship issues.
  17. Develop policies and procedures that improve the quality of practice placements in both the Trust and the independent sector.

  19. Represent the department at relevant meetings, ensuring participation, preparation and feedback.

Work Conditions

This role is based at MHH but operates hybrid, with a mix of office and remote days and periodic travel to other BCHHC sites. The Trust supports flexible and hybrid working patterns and encourages applicants to discuss alternative working patterns during the interview.

Disability Background Check Costs

All new employees will be charged for DBS checks if required. Standard checks cost £26.40 and enhanced checks £54.40, paid over three monthly instalments. The cost is deducted from salary only after training completion and DBS verification.
