We are looking for a caring, kind, and compassionate individual to join our team as a Care Assistant at The Oaks Care Home on Durban Street.

Main Responsibilities
- Support People in our Care with washing, toileting, dressing, undressing, and all other aspects of daily living.
- Assist People in all aspects of their care needs (physical, emotional, and spiritual) while maintaining comfort and dignity.
- Assist People with limited mobility or learning difficulties, using aids provided.
- Monitor People who may be confused or exhibit behavioural problems.
- Assist in the promotion of continence.
- Support People who are dying or progressing in illness, including last offices.
- Complete written daily records of care planning needs as instructed, in line with company policies.
- Interact with People to facilitate social activities and hobbies.
- Answer Nursecall system, door, and telephone appropriately and pass on messages promptly.
- Report on the well-being of People under supervision of senior Care Staff.
- Carry out regular checks on People at intervals determined by senior Staff.
- Welcome visitors and provide refreshments/assistance as required.
- Make and change beds, ensuring rooms are clean and tidy; follow waste and resource policies.
- Clean and maintain equipment such as wheelchairs, hearing aids, spectacles, etc., and keep the Care Home clean and tidy.
- Care for People’s clothing and rooms, ensuring accurate recording and clear labeling.
- Maintain privacy and dignity for the dying and bereaved, following company policies.
- Assist People during meal times, including swallowing difficulties and dietary requirements; serve food/drinks, clear tables, and wash up as requested.
- Escort People travelling to and from the Care Home for social outings, hospital visits, etc.
- Practice integrity in all dealings with People’s personal and financial affairs, avoiding abuse of trust.
- Assist with rearranging bedrooms, moving furniture and beds, using safe handling techniques.
Communication
- Participate in Staff and Client meetings as required.
Training and Development
- Maintain professional knowledge and competence.
- Attend mandatory training days and courses, on or off site.
- Participate in relevant NVQ training to achieve required qualifications.
Health and Safety
- Report illness, infection, or accidents to the Home Manager or Person in Charge.
- Implement Health and Safety and Emergency/Fire procedures.
- Report faulty appliances, damaged furniture, and hazards to the Home Manager or Handyperson.
- Promote safe working practices and maintain the Care Home’s reputation.
- Ensure confidentiality; do not divulge confidential information.
- Notify Manager of any inability to report for duty at least 2 hours before shift start.
- Maintain security of the Care Home at all times.
- Adhere to policies and procedures within defined time scales.
- Keep equipment clean and well maintained.
- Perform any other tasks reasonably assigned.
