Job description

This is a very important position within the abattoir sector. We provide an independent service in the classification of animal carcases. Experience is not needed as we provide full training and support with the opportunity to achieve a certification license, but experience in the industry is desirable.

We are Meat Livestock Classification Ltd (MLC) and we are looking for someone to join our Carcase Services Team. Once training is completed, the successful candidate will be responsible for identifying, weighing, and classifying sheep carcases within a busy abattoir. This is a relief role and you will be required to support at 2-3 sites across Hartshorne and Kenilworth.

Key responsibilities

Recording data accurately and within specified timescales

Abiding by industry wide standards of classification (EUROP)

Establishing and maintaining a close working relationship with the customer, paying attention to customer care and the promotion of MLC’s classification service

Completing the required documentation in an accurate and timely manner

Representing the company in a professional manner.

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

Good communication

Eager to learn as full training available to develop your skills

Flexible approach to working hours

Knowledge of Abattoir Systems

A great team player who is both reliable and flexible

Able to work in a physically demanding role, as required to stand regularly and work at a fast pace

A full driving licence

A good command of English Language both spoken and written

Willing to Travel if required

Previous experience in the meat or livestock industry would be advantageous but not essential. (e.g., as a butcher, farmer or in a slaughterhouse)

Pay from £28,808.42 per year rising to approx. £31,001.78 upon first certification and rising to approx. £31,506.59 after first year completion.
