Job description

We are looking for a Buyer to join a busy procurement department in our client's manufacturing facility in Leicester.

The successful applicant will play a crucial role in ensuring the operation runs smoothly by purchasing the necessary machinery, equipment, tools, parts, supplies, and services. They'll be the go-to person for acquiring goods and services for the company.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and optimise suppliers based on various factors such as price, quality, selection, service, support, and availability.
  • Approve high-quality merchandise purchases at the best possible prices in the right quantities.
  • Approve purchase orders, request bid proposals, and review requisitions for goods and services.
  • Guide staff in resolving issues related to undelivered goods.
  • Teach staff effective negotiation, renegotiation, and contract administration methods with suppliers, vendors, and other representatives.
  • Collaborate with staff, users, and vendors to address and resolve issues with defective or unacceptable goods or services.
  • Monitor and evaluate contract performance to ensure compliance and determine necessary changes.


Skills/Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance or a related business field is required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, negotiation skills, and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to analyse financial reports, price proposals, and technical data.
  • Accurate documentation and record-keeping skills for customer/client information.
  • Knowledge of purchasing-related laws and regulations.
  • Understanding of supply chain management.
  • Proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
