Lead the Business Services & Tax Division — Clear Pathway to Equity Partnership

Are you ready to run your own firm — without the risk of building one from scratch?

We are a long-standing, family-run boutique accounting firm seeking an experienced Business Services Manager / Senior Business Services Manager to take full leadership of our Business Services & Tax division. This is a rare opportunity to step into a role with genuine autonomy, deep client relationships, and a clear pathway to equity partnership for the right person.

About the Firm

Our firm has been built over decades and continues to grow through strong client loyalty and consistent referrals.

Our two-partner structure is transitioning:

One partner will continue to service our large base of individual clients and is gradually moving toward retirement.

The second partner, a CPA in his early 30s, leads our mortgage broking and commercial finance division, oversees client acquisition, and collaborates with other professionals to deliver integrated advisory solutions.

We are now looking for a senior professional to take full ownership of the Business Services & Tax division as part of a long‑term succession plan.

Our Clients

We service:

  • More than 90 business client groups, including trades, SMEs, professional firms, and multi‑entity family groups
  • Approximately 800 individual tax clients
  • A mix of ongoing tax, BAS, bookkeeping, payroll, and advisory requirements
  • Many clients have been with us for more than a decade. The firm continues to grow through word‑of‑mouth referrals and strong professional networks.
The Opportunity

You will lead the Business Services & Tax division and take responsibility for quality, workflow management, client service standards, and team capability.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing and overseeing complex SME tax returns, BAS, financial statements, and related tax matters
  • Delivering tax planning, restructuring and practical, commercial advice
  • Managing a diverse portfolio of business clients and professional families
  • Leading and developing a small team (onshore and offshore) through review, guidance and training
  • Ensuring consistent, high‑quality, on‑time delivery for all client engagements

This role suits someone who wants genuine ownership, enjoys leadership, and is motivated by long‑term stability and partnership progression.

How Success Will Be Measured

95% or more of lodgements completed on time

85% of work delivered within budget

Client responses provided within 48 hours

Clear, measurable expectations aligned with high‑quality client service.

About You

You will be well suited to this role if you:

  • Are CA or CPA qualified
  • Have 7–12+ years of experience in public practice
  • Are confident with SME tax, advisory, structuring and multi‑entity groups
  • Enjoy leading people and building capability through training and review
  • Communicate clearly, professionally and proactively
  • Are seeking long‑term stability in a well‑run, family‑based firm
  • Are motivated by the opportunity to progress to equity partnership if the fit is right
