Job description

A brand new family-owned independent nursery with two settings, one is situated in the heart of Trowbridge town centre above Baloos Softplay Centre.

We provide full day care for children aged 2 - 5 years old here.

The other in Melksham town, along Spa Road.

Where we provide full day care for children aged 0- 5 years old.

Join the team at Bumpers Nursery and be part of a new and expanding team whilst completing your Early Years Educator Level 3 Apprenticeship.

As part of the team at Bumpers Nursery, your day to day duties will include:

  • Establish and maintain ‘Excellence in childcare with a difference’.
  • To ensure a safe but stimulating environment in which the child can learn through participation.
  • To work as part of a team under the direction of a team leader.
  • To ensure our mission statement is upheld. ‘Excellence in childcare with a difference’
  • To establish and uphold all Nursery policies including health and safety and child protection.
  • To be responsible for the day-to-day care of the children at Westview
  • To be responsible for learning journeys for appointed key children
  • To support the business plans for each area.
  • To attend regular staff and management meetings.
  • To ensure that the Nursery is at all times suitably staffed.
  • To be responsible for positive communication with all staff.
  • To assist in implementing a consistent, effective behaviour management policy
  • To assist with implementing ILP for SEN
  • Liaise with the parents/guardians regarding their child’s progress during the day and be available for parents to meet with regarding key children.
  • To attend regular parent’s evenings and social events
  • To participate with core training when provided by management
  • To be responsible for effective communication and liaison between Nursery staff and parents
  • Monitor and evaluate the implementation of the National care standards in accordance with Ofsted, Equality act, Westview’s policy and procedures and Staff Handbook.
  • Implement the Early Years Foundation Stage throughout the day including record keeping, planning and ensure daily observations are taken on all children.

Ideally candidates will hold a Level 2 Early Years Practitioner or equivalent Early Years qualification. Candidates who are able to demonstrate significant working experience gained in a nursery setting may also be considered.

Successful applicants will be subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring check and at least two written references.

Training to be provided

Early Years Educator Apprenticeship - Level 3

You will be supported by a trainer throughout your apprenticeship.

As you progress through your apprenticeship your duties and responsibilities will alter as you develop the skills for a successful career in childcare.

Functional Skills in English and Maths is required.

Things to consider

This is a physical and active role and you will need to be alert and have the ability to get involved.Do you have the relevant prior Early Years qualification, knowledge or working experience in childcare?

Upon successful completion of your level 3 apprenticeship there will be the opportunity for permanent employment and further training.
