Job summary

A leading consultancy firm is seeking a Building Safety Surveyor to assist clients with compliance under the Building Safety Act. You will support audits, inspections, and safety case reviews, with a strong understanding of building safety legislation. This permanent position offers a salary of £55,000-65,000 and benefits including 28 days annual leave and hybrid working arrangements.

Responsibilities

  • Support clients in meeting duties under Building Regulations and Building Safety Act.
  • Assist with compliance appraisals and site inspections.
  • Review design information and inspection reports for compliance.
  • Conduct gap analyses for Safety Case Reports.
  • Provide advice on compliance and quality assurance.
  • Facilitate workshops on Building Safety Risk Assessments.
  • Work closely with stakeholders including clients and regulatory bodies.
  • Support Principal Designer function in line with company processes.

Are you passionate about building safety, compliance, and the built environment? We are recruiting a Building Safety Surveyor to join a growing consultancy team supporting clients in meeting their obligations under the Building Safety Act and wider regulatory framework.

In this role, you’ll play a key part in demonstrating the safety and compliance of buildings, helping clients manage risk, maintain statutory compliance, and ensure the health, safety and welfare of occupants. You’ll work across audits, inspections, safety case reviews, design assessments and stakeholder engagement.

The Role
As a Building Safety Surveyor, You Will
  • Support clients in meeting duties under the Building Regulations 2010 (as amended) and the Building Safety Act 2022.
  • Assist with building regulation audits, compliance appraisals and site inspections.
  • Review design information, surveys, and inspection reports to assess compliance.
  • Conduct gap analyses and identify missing documentation required for Safety Case Reports and Gateway submissions.
  • Provide advice on compliance, quality assurance and best practice.
  • Facilitate internal/external workshops on Building Safety Risk Assessments.
  • Work closely with stakeholders including clients, contractors, designers, and regulatory bodies.
  • Support the Principal Designer (Building Regulations) function in line with company processes.
  • Deliver a wide range of building safety consultancy tasks within agreed scopes and deadlines.
About You

You will be a detail‑driven safety professional with a strong understanding of building safety legislation and a passion for improving compliance and governance across complex estates.

Essential Skills & Experience
  • Strong working knowledge of:
    • Building Safety Act 2022
    • Fire Safety Order 2005
    • Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022
  • Experience developing Safety Case Reports and applying Golden Thread principles.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to identify, analyse and resolve compliance issues.
  • Commercial awareness and strong organisational skills.
  • Willingness to visit sites as required.
Qualifications
  • Degree‑level qualification or Level 4 Diploma in a building safety‑related discipline (or equivalent).
  • Membership or working towards membership of a relevant professional body (CIBSE, RICS, CIOB, IFE, IFSM etc.).
  • Demonstrable Skills, Knowledge, Experience and Behaviours (SKEB).
