A leading recruitment firm in energy solutions is seeking a BESS O&M Service Engineer to support utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System projects across the UK. In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for operations, maintenance, troubleshooting, and performance optimisation, working across live BESS sites and contributing to planning and performance improvement. The ideal candidate has at least 2 years of experience in O&M within the BESS sector and is proactive in their approach. A degree in engineering and UK driving licence are essential.
We’re looking for an experienced BESS O&M Service Engineer to support utility‑scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects across the UK. This is a hands‑on role focused onoperations, maintenance, troubleshooting, and performance optimisation, offering the opportunity to play a key role in the UK’s energy transition.
You’ll work across live BESS sites, supporting commissioning, maintenance, and emergency response activities, while also contributing to planning, documentation, and performance improvement from a home‑office base.
Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on BESS and associated infrastructure
Perform remote operations to support maintenance and fault resolution
Conduct site inspections, diagnostics, and testing using specialist equipment
Ensure strict compliance with Health & Safety standards and UK HSE regulations
Supervise subcontractors and ensure quality and compliance of third‑party works
Support commissioning, upgrades, and major repairs
Review technical documentation and contribute to maintenance procedures, RAM personnels, and method statements
Liaise with OEMs and suppliers on maintenance processes and technical clarifications
Support annual maintenance planning for BESS assets
Minimum 2 years’ experience in O&M within BESS, energy storage, renewables, or the power sector
Degree (or equivalent qualification) in an engineering discipline
Strong technical knowledge of LV systems, inverters, EMS, and battery systems
Training on battery systems and PCS equipment is highly advantageous
ECS/CSCS card (or eligibility to obtain one)
Working knowledge of UK Health & Safety regulations
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationwide
Proactive, solutions‑focused mindset
HV operational experience is a plus
