Job overview

We are looking for a confident, competent colleague to work in Torbay & South Devon Community Dental Service and join our dedicated dental team. The main focus of the service is Special Care Dentistry with all the accompanying aspects. All our dentists are expected to provide some urgent care to local people who cannot otherwise access dental care. More details can be found in the Job Description.

You will provide high quality dental care to adults and children with additional needs as well as some urgent care provision to the residents and visitors to the area. You will be responsible for demonstrating and further developing the vision, mission and agreed values that guide the service in its work.

Main duties of the job
  • Full range of treatment for adults and children whose special needs have prevented them from accessing dental care through the General Dental Service. This may involve, Local Anaesthetic with or without sedation (both Inhalation and IV sedation) as well as GA.
  • Urgent dental care for patients who have been unable to access treatment with a general dental practitioner to resolve acute problems appropriately, this includes extractions and permanent restorations.
  • A dministration associated with these duties including keeping comprehensive contemporaneous records Clinical leadership and management support for the dental teams.
  • Has sufficient knowledge and experience of the legislative and financial framework to provide advice or support on such matters to other members of the dental team

The successful candidate will also take additional responsibilities for specific organisational or clinical issues within the service in accordance with Terms & Conditions for Salaried Primary Dental Care Services (England) January 2008 and any later amendments.

  • Full GDC registration and performer number are essential requirements for this role.
