Overview of the Role

Due to a significant growth within our group of companies; DRVN Automotive Group and McDermott Group, we are recruiting exclusively for an experienced Assistant Finance Manager to support the Finance Manager across multiple entities, within the automotive and public sector.

Working within our multifaceted company you will report directly to the Finance Manager, and you will have a background of strong technical accounting knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to manage financial processes efficiently in a fast-paced, multi-company environment.

The organisation is currently in a period of growth, and this role will be instrumental in helping develop systems and processes to support the business, as it moves from prototype development to full scale manufacturing.

The business HQ is located within a new state of-the-art office building in Perth, accredited with the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI) Gold standard and our strong leadership drives our high-performing teams.

Responsibilities
  • Company Policies: follow the quality, health and safety, and all other policies of the company
  • Oversee the month end and year end close
  • Assist in the development and preparation of accurate and timely management information
  • Monitor income and expenditure across multiple manufacturing projects
  • Provide technical support to the payroll team, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, company policies and HMRC regulations
  • Preparation of year end audit files and liaise with external auditors throughout the statutory audit process
  • Provide advice and guidance on financial procedures to the wider team to nurture a team with varying abilities
  • Work closely with Finance Manager to improve financial reporting and processes
  • Assist the Finance Manager in the preparation of annual budgets and cash flow forecasts
  • Assist in maintaining robust financial controls and audit readiness
  • Contribute to process improvements for efficiency and accuracy
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to provide information to support decision making
  • Deputise for the Finance Manager when required
  • A recognised accountancy qualification (either part or fully qualified ACCA, CIMA, ACA, or equivalent) or qualified by experience
  • Proven experience in an accounting/finance role, ideally within a multi-company or automotive environment
  • Strong technical knowledge of bookkeeping, reconciliations, VAT, and financial reporting to recognised standards (UK GAAP, IFRS and HMRC)
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero, Sage, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Experience of a manufacturing environment would be advantageous but not essential
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to communicate financial information to non-finance colleagues
  • Experience of leading or mentoring a small team would be advantageous
  • Experience in Sage 200
  • Experience in software upgrades and system implementations
