A local government council in Sefton is looking for an Apprentice Transport Planning Technician to support the development of transport policies and projects. The role involves data collection, assisting with reports, and project delivery within a 33-month apprenticeship. Applicants are expected to work 36 hours per week while training for a Level 3 qualification. The Strategic Transport Planning and Investment (STPI) Team is looking to recruit an Apprentice who is committed and motivated to complete the 33 month programme.
Your main duties will be to support the team in the development of strategic transport policies, strategies and delivery plans and the delivery of projects within the Council’s Transport Capital Programme. You will be involved in the analysis of transport issues, the development of solutions, consultation with the public and stakeholders as well as supporting the team in the development and delivery of a pipeline of projects to support the Council’s growth and investment ambitions.

This role combines both technical training with members of the team as well as studying towards a Level 3 Transport Planning Technician qualification with Chichester College, typically one day per week online learning course, with periodic in‑person attendance required. There will be a requirement to attend Chichester College for an induction at the start of term (this may require an overnight stay due to the location and distance to the college).
