Job summary

A leading analytics recruitment firm is seeking an Analytics Engineer to enhance their data and analytics capability. The position is hands-on, involving the design of scalable data models, development of ELT pipelines in Databricks, and use of Power BI for reporting. The ideal candidate will have strong SQL and Python skills, and experience translating stakeholder requirements into data logic. This is a hybrid role, requiring 2-3 days onsite in London and Ipswich.

Overview

We’re supporting an FCA-regulated organisation with the hire of an Analytics Engineer to strengthen its modern data and analytics capability. This is a hands-on role focused on building trusted, reusable data assets that support reporting, product insight and decision-making across the organisation.


What you’ll be doing


  • Designing and maintaining clean, scalable data models (e.g. star/snowflake schemas) and defining consistent business metrics

  • Building and improving ELT pipelines in Databricks using SQL and Python/PySpark, with a focus on reliability and performance

  • Feeding curated datasets into Power BI (including modelling and DAX where required) to support trusted reporting

  • Working closely with stakeholders to gather requirements, translate them into data logic, and improve how analytics is consumed

  • Contributing to good practice around documentation, data quality checks, lineage/metadata and version control, helping raise standards across the analytics function


What we’re looking for


  • Hands-on experience in Databricks plus strong SQL and Python/PySpark

  • Evidence of owning end-to-end analytics delivery

  • Comfortable working with business and product stakeholders, challenging requirements when needed and translating them into clear data logic.

  • Strong data modelling skills and confidence defining/standardising metrics

  • Good Power BI experience (data modelling; DAX beneficial)


Location / working pattern

Hybrid: typically 2–3 days per week onsite, split between London and Ipswich
