Job description
* This is a 14 Month Fixed Term position *

At GSK, we are using Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) to develop new therapies and personalised drugs that drive better outcomes for patients. Because the datasets we use and algorithms we build at each step of the drug development journey have ethical and safety implications for our patients, GSK has a dedicated team working on the responsible use of AI in healthcare, establishing a robust responsible AI framework to guide our use of AIML. To help inform these efforts, GSK actively pursues applied ethics and safety research projects within the company, as well as sponsoring AI ethics and safety fellows at partner universities. GSK also proactively engages with governments, regulators, and other interested stakeholders, with the aim of informing and improving the overall public policy debate around the use of AI and data within healthcare.

The focus of the role (Analyst, Artificial Intelligence Policy) will be to contribute dynamically across the workstreams of research, governance, and advocacy. Given that responsible AI is a complex and nascent field, we hire across disciplines, looking for dynamic and motivated team‑mates rather than specific experience profiles.

If this excites you and you want to be part of our team, we would love to chat. The team is built on the principles of ownership, accountability, continuous development, and collaboration. We hire for the long term, and we are motivated to make this a great place to work. Our leaders will be committed to your career and development from day one. We strongly encourage applications from people with diverse and underrepresented backgrounds and perspectives.

The role will be part of GSK’s AIML team located at the Stanley Building, which is in London’s thriving life sciences and technology cluster at King’s Cross. The position will report directly to the Senior Analyst, AI Policy. The role will also work alongside other members of this AIML team, which includes engineers, data scientists, physicists, biologists, and medical doctors, who are all working at the cutting edge of drug discovery. The successful candidate will join a fast‑growing team on an initial 14‑month contract.

In this role you will
  • Develop evidence‑based policy positions on key areas related to GSK’s AIML strategy, including ethics, data, and safety initiatives, and help drive advocacy strategy on issues in AI and data policy.
  • Manage AI governance at GSK AIML working closely with engineering teams to ensure that AIML projects are safe and ethical and that novel AI‑applications are well‑governed.
  • Identify gaps between GSK’s policy positions and the current legislative and regulatory frameworks in the UK, USA, and EU.
  • Undertake horizon scanning and landscape analysis in the UK, USA, and EU, with the aim of identifying potential threats and opportunities arising from upcoming legislative, regulatory, or stakeholder proposals.
  • Work with colleagues in Government Affairs in the UK, EU, and USA to develop and support strategies for effectively promoting GSK’s policies in key jurisdictions.
  • Respond to consultations from governments and other stakeholders, ideally by leveraging proactively drafted policy positions.
  • Represent GSK’s AIML team at internal and external workshops, panels, and conferences, to convey our policy positions.
  • Engage with AIML engineers and data scientists to gain a better understanding of policy enablers for key initiatives.
  • Engage with AIML engineers to guide governance and ethics components of project development.
  • Collaborate with academic fellows in GSK and at partner universities to deliver academic research on AI ethics and governance.
  • Collaborate with external partners to develop long‑term strategic policy initiatives and build long‑term partnerships with stakeholders in government, academia, nonprofits, and other strategic partners.
  • Participate in industry trade associations to represent GSK Responsible AI views.
Why you?
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in public policy, public affairs, philosophy, politics, law, STEM, or other related discipline
  • History of strong academic performance
  • Strong oral and written communication
  • Comfortable working with engineers, data scientists, and other AIML researchers, many of whom have PhDs, to effectively translate technical concerns into language that is accessible to a broader public policy audience
  • Willingness to up‑skill if necessary, by learning some AIML coding basics, to gain a better understanding of the broader team’s work
  • Ability to work on fast moving issues, subject to significant ambiguity
  • Desire to shape AI and tech policy towards responsible innovation
Preferred Qualifications & Skills:
  • Master’s or advanced degree in relevant field
  • Experience working in healthcare, health data, or computer science
  • Skills or experience in coding or machine learning
  • Demonstrated experience managing and communicating with a range of stakeholders
  • Experience navigating complex organisations requiring inter‑departmental collaboration to achieve results
  • Experience working in government, public policy, think tank or similar
Closing Date for Applications: Thursday 19th February 2026 (COB)
