Job description

A new and exciting opportunity has arisen for an Accounts and Administration Assistant to joinour long-establishedpractice at our Head Office in Weston-super-Mare. The role will be working alongside the Finance Manager and Legal Cashier in a fast-paced environment to support the legal advisers and their support teams in processing financial transactions for our clients.

The ideal candidate will have some accounts and purchase ledger experience and will be keen to progress a career in Legal Accounting, which will be supported by the firm, and there will be a clear route for progression. Experience is not essential as training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Posting and payment of Purchase Ledger invoices;
  • Posting and payment of expense claim forms;
  • Checking of all invoices, statements and financial reports;
  • Operating and maintaining all banking procedures and accounting ledgers;
  • Accurately recording all client’s financial transactions and maintaining ledgers accordingly;
  • Daily banking including using online banking facilities, transferring funds between accounts, making electronic payments and recording receipts;
  • Assisting with processing of card payments over the phone;
  • Preparing postage labels for all offices;
  • Preparing outgoing post for collection;
  • Opening and scanning of daily post;
  • Archiving of Cash Office records;
  • Developing knowledge of the Legal Cashier role and responsibilities;
  • Ensuring compliance with the Solicitors Accounts Rules;
  • Supervision of the Cash Office in Finance Managers and Legal Cashiers absence;
  • Handling general enquiries and resolving queries;

Essential qualifications, skills and experience:

  • IT literate and have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office;
  • Achieved a GCSE Grade A-C or equivalent in English and Maths;
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail;
  • Methodical approach to following procedures;
  • Have strong communication and client care skills to ensure our clients receive an efficient, reliable and friendly service over the telephone, in written correspondence and face to face;
  • Flexible and professional approach to your work;
  • Proactive with good organisational skills andbe able to work as part of a team as well as autonomously when necessary;
  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure to meet deadlines when managing own workload;
  • Be available to work Monday-Friday and Saturday Clinics 9:00-13:00 on a rota basis up to 4 times a year;
  • Be local to Weston-super-Mare or surrounding areas;
  • Have a full, clean driving licence.
