Our Outsourced Finance team is seeking a Outsourcing Operations Manager. You will lead the team in alignment with our culture and values, setting a clear vision and providing confident, purposeful leadership. You will develop and implement plans and policies that drive high performance, strengthen team capability, and support long-term growth. By offering strategic direction and ensuring effective day-to-day management, you will enable the team to consistently achieve both our operational targets and wider organisational objectives.

The Duncan & Toplis group is one of the UK’s top regional accountancy firms, specialising in accountancy, tax, and business advice, as well as supporting clients with legal services, IT support, and wealth management. Established in 1925, the team provide services to more than 12,000 businesses and individuals. We help each other as well as our communities, taking our social responsibility seriously by supporting local initiatives through the Duncan & Toplis Foundation.

Your responsibilities

Here’s a bit more on what can expect to be doing day‑to‑day:

  • Ensure client’s accounts remain profitable and additional projects/services are proposed in advance of work commencing along with representation of other service lines.
  • Managing and developing team members, including conducting performance reviews and the setting of clear objectives.
  • Overseeing the running of the Outsourcing team and ensuring that systems and process are being followed whilst nurturing and mentoring the team to develop their skills.
  • You will play a proactive role within the leadership team, representing the company and integrating the other service lines.
  • Implement internal processes and systems to ensure efficiency across the Outsourcing service line and offer additional services.
  • Lead on the onboarding of new clients to understand which services they need and the best way to deliver an excellent client service for that client.
  • Ensure efficient resource planning is in place to underpin our client expectations and guarantee that internal metrics are met through the effective utilisation of skills, knowledge, and abilities of the wider team.
  • Have an active role in business development in order to generate new business and create a vibrant pipeline of opportunities from both within and external to the existing Duncan & Toplis client base.
About you

We think you’ll need the following experience and qualifications to succeed in the role:

  • Fully qualified in Accountancy – either by qualification or experience.
  • Ability to work on multiple complex projects.

  • Networking, negotiation, and business leadership skills.
  • Advisory skills.
  • Acknowledged as an expert.
  • Passionate about and knowledgeable about the accounting software ecosystem.
  • Full Right to Work (indefinite leave to remain in the UK).
