Component 1: Drama and Theatre. Component 2: Creating Original Drama. Component 3: Making Theatre
Component 1: Drama and Theatre is a three hour written exam that is externally assessed. The exam will be based on your in-depth study of two plays and your thinking about a live theatre production that you will see in your second year. Component 2: Creating Original Drama centres around you devising a piece of live theatre. You will produce a working notebook that will outline your rationale for the piece with reflection on the development and refinement of your work. This is assessed by you course tutor and moderated by the exam board. Component 3: Making Theatre. You will practically explore extracts from three texts as an actor, director or designer. The final extract is performed for a public performance and is assessed by a visiting external examiner. There will be continuous tutor assessment throughout the course to ensure that you are working to your full potential.
You will need to purchase set theatre texts. The details of these will be provided by your course tutor.
You will have access to industry standard performance and rehearsal spaces. The department also provides access to high-spec video cameras, changing facilities, ballet barres, acro equipment and PCs/laptops for theory lessons.
