Job description
About the Company

MCS Group are delighted to be working EXCLUSIVELY with a fast‑growing cybersecurity scale‑up specialising in modern mobile security and device protection. Their platform helps organisations keep employee devices safe by identifying vulnerabilities, risky settings, outdated software, and potential indicators of compromise - then guiding users through simple steps to fix them.

They're addressing a major gap in the market by treating mobile devices with the same level of security and visibility as traditional enterprise endpoints. The company is well‑funded, backed by strong industry partners, and has a clear long‑term roadmap.

The Belfast engineering team is at the heart of the product - working on core integrations, backend systems, and complex technical challenges that have real impact on the overall platform.

The Role

We're looking for a Senior Android Engineer to help design, build, and evolve a production Android application and its supporting components.

This is a hands‑on senior role with real influence over architecture, technical direction, and engineering standards. You'll work closely with mobile, backend, and wider engineering teams to deliver high‑quality Android features while modernising the existing codebase.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain production Android features using Kotlin and modern Android APIs
  • Contribute to application architecture, using patterns such as MVVM and/or MVI
  • Build and maintain asynchronous workflows using Kotlin Coroutines and Flows
  • Support UI development and modernisation, including work with Jetpack Compose and XML
  • Improve performance, stability, and reliability across a wide range of devices and OS versions
  • Debug complex issues across different Android versions and OEM configurations
  • Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and technical decision‑making
  • Collaborate closely with cross‑functional engineering teams
Requirements
  • 4+ years of professional Android development experience
  • Strong proficiency in Kotlin - MUST HAVE
  • Experience with MVVM and/or MVI architectural patterns
  • Hands‑on experience building or migrating UI using Jetpack Compose and XML
  • Solid understanding of the Android app lifecycle, background execution, and platform constraints
  • Experience debugging and optimising apps across multiple devices and OS versions
  • Comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment and making pragmatic technical decisions
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
Nice to Have
  • Experience in the cybersecurity space - big plus.
  • Background building apps used in enterprise or regulated environments
What's in it for you?
  • Highly Competitive base salary, flexible dependant on experience.
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Pension contribution
  • Steer the direction of a soon to be multi‑award‑winning product worldwide
  • Ownership and freedom to put your own stamp on the work you do
  • Join a team where all ideas are encouraged and welcomed
  • Flexible working and remote working options available - can hire in NI, ROI or UK - MUST HAVE FULL RIGHTS TO WORK.
