Location: Dublin (Hybrid)

You will conceptualize the future direction of the database environment across multiple platforms managed by European I&O, evaluate their current state, and work towards optimization and efficiency. You will lead complex database projects and implement effective solutions to core business needs.

• Act as the technical lead for the European I&O Database team; develop the technical roadmap for database platforms.
• Design robust and scalable database solutions aligning with organizational data strategy and business goals.
• Ensure database platforms comply with security and compliance best practices.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (developers, infrastructure, network engineers) to implement database solutions successfully.
• Mentor and guide junior team members.
• Serve as an escalation point for critical tickets and issues, leading to successful resolution.
• Troubleshoot complex database issues and ensure timely resolutions for a positive customer experience.
• Contribute to project design and oversee implementation phases.
• Identify areas for improvement and design scalable solutions.

• Strong knowledge of database management systems such as Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MySQL.
• Minimum of 7 years industry experience.
• Familiarity with cloud-based databases like Google Cloud SQL, Amazon RDS, Azure SQL is beneficial.
• Experience troubleshooting using Wait Statistics, PerfMon, Extended Events, and Query Store.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and communicate effectively.
• Experience working within 24/7/365 business-critical systems.
• Expertise in SQL Server (2016 - 2022) administration, performance tuning, troubleshooting, and high-availability setups.
• Proficiency in T-SQL, stored procedures, indexing, and query optimization.
• Knowledge of PowerShell or Perl, automation, and scripting.
• Security experience, especially in PCI compliant environments.
• Experience with operational processes like Change Management, Lifecycle Management, Patch Management.

• High standards for accuracy, security, and performance.
• Proactive in improving database operations.
• Effective communicator with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Works well across departments, aligning strategies with business objectives.
• Keeps up-to-date with emerging database technologies and best practices.
• Educational qualification: Computer Science or similar third-level qualification.
