Job Description

Are you a detail-driven Mechanical Design Engineer with a passion for precision? ALTEN UK is working on a high-profile Naval systems project involving the redesign and alteration of complex cabinet structures. This is your chance to contribute to mission-critical defence technology, working alongside experienced teams to update and optimise the design of electronic enclosures for demanding environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver detailed design modifications to mechanical cabinets within Naval systems, ensuring form, fit, and function integrity.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to review design inputs and validate cabinet updates.
  • Interpret and update complex mechanical drawings using industry-standard tools.
  • Integrate updates to support housing of electronic systems, ensuring ease of access and thermal considerations.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant defence design standards and client-specific specifications.
  • Work in a hybrid model with key on-site presence for integration reviews and stakeholder engagement.
Qualifications

What We're Looking For:

  • Strong background in mechanical design within defence, aerospace, or high-integrity environments.
  • Prior experience with electronic enclosure or cabinet design highly beneficial.
  • Proficiency in Catia V5 and AutoCAD is essential – this is a hands-on CAD role.
  • Ability to assess and deliver design alterations with minimal oversight.
  • Excellent drawing interpretation skills and an eye for detail.
  • Confident working in a structured design and configuration-controlled environment.
