Salaried Urgent Care Doctor £95,025 to £105,788 per annum (Additional rate enhancements apply for evening, weekend and overnight working).

Gtd healthcare is one of the largest NHS commissioned Primary and Urgent care providers in North West England. We are looking for dedicated and proactive Salaried Urgent Care Doctors to work within our urgent care services at Royal Preston Hospital and Chorley Hospital.

We are recruiting for both full time and part time hours with a minimum of 12 hours per week across Monday to Sunday for evening, overnight and weekend working. Our services operate 24/7 providing vital patient care.

As part of the medical gtd healthcare team, you will deliver urgent primary medical care in line with current evidence based best practice during both the out of hours and in hours periods (dependent on the service area and contractual requirements). This will be face to face assessment in a range of treatment locations. This post may develop to include telephone triage and home visits dependent on the post holder’s development needs.

• Provide timely clinical care to gtd healthcare urgent care patients in the form of advice or face to face consultation whilst on shift.
• To ensure that where appropriate, the patient is referred for further management with the relevant service, e.g. secondary care specialties, community services.
• To proactively communicate with the Clinical Shift Leads and Senior Care Co-ordinators to ensure the smooth running of the shift.
• To be responsible for prioritisation and timeliness of all consultations assigned to the shift.
• Work with colleagues to maximise effective and efficient delivery of care to patients.
• To work within the prescribing formulary, taking account of the minimum length of prescribed treatment.
• Provide clinical advice to both internal and external other staff as required (e.g. Clinical Shift Lead, Senior Care Co-ordinator, Triage Nurses, other GPs, District Nurses).
• Represent gtd healthcare in a professional manner when in contact with the general public and other professionals.
• Support locally developed urgent care pathways and community alternatives to admission, e.g. DVT service, alternative to transfer (ATT/PATS) scheme with NWAS.
• To support streaming of patients to or from co-located A&E services.
• On call shifts (optional): Doctors on call are expected to respond to phone requests within 5 minutes of call and to be able to attend at any of our centres within 1 hr.

• To ensure all statutory and mandatory training relevant for post is completed.
• Identify own training needs, in consultation and attend agreed relevant courses / study days to enhance personal development.
• To be available for meetings and appraisals from time to time as required.
• Actively seek out learning opportunities via networking with peers in other organisations.
• Participate in the NHS Appraisal process and all activities required for revalidation.

• To have a good understanding and follow the organisations policies and procedures.
• Work as part of the gtd healthcare multidisciplinary team to ensure a positive and productive team environment is developed and maintained at all times.
• Work as part of a team to ensure targets are met and have primary responsibility for operational targets in real time.
• To contribute to any strategic developments arising from the urgent care agenda.
• Involvement in the teaching and training of other health professionals who may be attached to the service.
• Alert gtd management promptly to problems in service delivery or concerns about the competence of clinical and non-clinical colleagues.
• To provide relevant information and assurance regarding Working Time Directive and hours worked.
• To contribute and participate in the management of complaints and concerns where appropriate.
• Participate in audit of clinical and patient services.

• Any other duties, as agreed with the line manager to meet the needs of the organisation. This may include travel to other sites within the organisation.

• Hold full GMC Registration with a current licence to practice and without any current restrictions/undertakings.

• Computer literacy. An ability to use the clinical systems and online decision support combined with a reasonable typing speed.
• Skilled and experienced in telephone consultation with good telephone manner and clear diction.
• Able to demonstrate holistic patient care.

• An up to date understanding of modern primary care and its delivery in an OOH/urgent care setting.
• Experience of working in urgent primary care.
• Able to manage common medical, surgical and psychiatric emergencies.
• Ability to make appropriate referral for further management.
• Has an understanding of local services, pathways and OOH services and Integrated Urgent Care.
• Minimum of 3 years working in A&E (ED) as Specialty Doctor / Associate Specialist.
• Understanding of National Quality Requirements in Out of Hours.
• Experience of GP Training.
