Job description
Music Royalty Auditor

Department: Audit

Employment Type: Permanent

Location: London

Description
HW Fisher Forensic is one of the world’s most respected and active royalty audit teams. We act for leading clients in music, entertainment, publishing, fashion, sport, pharma and gaming. Our work in music royalties is well established, and we are proud to support some of the industry's most high-profile artists, rights owners and their representatives.

Our growing team is made up of experienced auditors who thrive on uncovering value, interpreting complex data, and helping clients better understand and enforce their royalty rights.

We are seeking a Music Royalty Auditor with direct and demonstrable experience auditing royalty statements and reporting within the music industry. This role is focused on projects involving recorded music, publishing and neighbouring rights, where you will be responsible for identifying underreporting, missed payments and financial discrepancies.

In this role you will also have the chance to work across a variety of royalty audits in other sectors such as television, sport, brand licensing and fashion. The mix of work is broad and continually evolving, and the successful candidate will gain insight into multiple commercial models while applying their music royalty audit expertise.

You will also be encouraged to take part in business development activity, whether that’s following up on new leads, dealing with incoming opportunities, or helping build relationships with artist managers, law firms, labels and publishers. While the technical work is central, we welcome applicants who are commercially minded and interested in growing their professional network.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead or support royalty audits of record labels, publishers, licensees and digital platforms
  • Interpret music industry agreements including recording, publishing and licensing contracts
  • Design and execute audit strategies tailored to each engagement
  • Analyse high volumes of usage, sales and royalty data including digital revenue reporting
  • Engage with auditees to obtain data, resolve queries and clarify reporting methods
  • Prepare written reports detailing financial shortfalls or audit findings
  • Communicate audit conclusions clearly to clients including legal, finance and management teams
  • Contribute to the wider forensic team by supporting audits across other IP-based sectors
  • Maintain awareness of developments in UK royalty reporting standards and digital licensing trends
  • Support and participate in business development discussions and follow-up

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Proven experience in music royalty auditing is essential
  • Familiarity with recording and publishing contracts and an understanding of how they drive royalty flows
  • Strong analytical and data-handling skills including advanced use of Excel
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working independently on multiple projects with tight deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail and a forensic mindset
  • ACA, ACCA or equivalent preferred but not essential if experience is substantial
  • Genuine interest in music industry business models and the commercial protection of rights
  • Proactive mindset toward building relationships and following up on potential new work

Why Join Us?
This is an opportunity to join one of the UK’s most experienced and well-connected royalty audit teams. You will work with an exceptional portfolio of clients, many of whom are at the top of their fields creatively and commercially. The team is collaborative, highly skilled and focused on producing impactful work that directly benefits creators and rights owners.
