STS Engine Services is hiring a Workshop Manager to lead engine maintenance operations at our Stansted, United Kingdom facility. This role is critical to ensuring regulatory compliance, operational performance, and on-time delivery across a growing Part 145 aircraft engine MRO.

Role Purpose

The Workshop Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of engine maintenance operations, ensuring all work is performed in accordance with regulatory requirements, company procedures, manufacturer guidance, and industry best practice.

This role leads operational teams, oversees labour and capacity planning, supports customer commitments, and drives continuous improvement across workshop performance, safety, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure all certifying staff meet recency and training requirements to maintain engine-type approvals
  • Confirm all team members are appropriately trained to maintain engine types listed within Company Approval Certificates
  • Develop and manage individual development plans for all team members
  • Monitor performance, attendance, and timekeeping in line with company policies, working closely with HR where required
  • Ensure teams have access to current, approved maintenance data
  • Oversee tooling serviceability, coordinating with relevant departments to maintain availability and compliance
  • Ensure all engine maintenance is completed in accordance with manufacturer guidelines
  • Allocate labour and equipment to meet committed turnaround times
  • Support Customer Services with communication regarding turnaround time risks or changes
  • Liaise with Planning to manage short‑term capacity and ensure customer commitments are achievable
  • Prepare and maintain operational reports including labour utilisation, bay utilisation, and project efficiency
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve cost, quality, and turnaround performance
  • Set and maintain standards across workshop areas including housekeeping, conduct, and discipline
  • Ensure full adherence to Part 145 regulatory requirements
  • Work with Safety and Compliance teams to address audit findings and corrective actionsRespond to reports raised through the company Safety Management System
  • Promote and embed a Just Culture across operational teams
  • Enforce health and safety standards throughout all workshop areas
  • Develop, review, and maintain operational processes and associated training guides
  • Participate in customer meetings as required
  • Participate in cross‑departmental meetings to support overall business performance
Skills and Experience
  • Minimum of three years management experience within the aviation industry or an associated MRO
  • Minimum of three years direct aircraft engine maintenance experience, preferably as a licensed engineer or approved certifier
  • Strong working knowledge of Part 145 regulations
  • Solid understanding of Safety Management Systems
  • Good understanding of health and safety requirements within a workshop environment
  • Proven experience leading and developing operational teams
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously
