A renewable energy company in Grimsby is offering a full-time Wind Turbine Technician Apprenticeship. This role combines classroom-based learning at Coleg Llandrillo with practical training at Triton Knoll Offshore Wind Farm. Candidates must be enthusiastic learners with 5 GCSEs in key subjects. The apprenticeship leads to a Level 3 qualification in Wind Turbine Maintenance, including on-site training and responsibilities such as performing maintenance on wind turbines at sea. The role requires working in a team on a 14 days on/14 days off rotation.

Full‑time, fixed‑term apprenticeship starting as soon as possible.
Training Locations: Coleg Llandrillo (North Wales) and Triton Knoll Offshore Windfarm (Grimsby).
Qualifications: 5 GCSE’s (or equivalent) at 4/C or above including Science, Maths and English.
Salary: £17,510 in the 1st year, rising incrementally each year in line with internal pay scales and national minimum wage. Benefits: pension and private single medical cover.
RWE Renewables offers a comprehensive 3‑year apprenticeship scheme to develop technicians working on wind turbines. The first two years are classroom‑based at a bespoke wind turbine training facility at Coleg Llandrillo, Rhyl in North Wales. The third year consists of on‑site training at Triton Knoll Offshore Wind Farm operated from Grimsby.
We will provide a comprehensive and well‑supported learning programme including classroom‑based learning and on‑site experience working with our technicians. Completion of the apprenticeship will result in an NVQ Level 3 qualification in Wind Turbine Operations and Maintenance and a Level 3 Diploma in Wind Turbine Maintenance.
As a Wind Turbine Technician you will work as part of a small team for specific offshore wind farms. You will learn to carry out all aspects of wind turbine maintenance, including scheduled, unscheduled, preventive, and troubleshooting maintenance.
Your role will involve performing maintenance at sea, in all weathers and at height, using heavy, complex mechanical and electrical equipment while demonstrating a commitment to Health and Safety.
Initial focus is on education and training, progressing to these tasks:
You will be keen to learn and undertake a practical role. Due to the complexity of the role, standby or on‑call may be required.
You will be part of a team performing services from the Service Operation Vessel (SOV) on a 14 days on/14 days off rotation.
All apprentices will fully study for the first two years at Coleg Llandrillo, Rhyl in North Wales during term time, then be deployed to Triton Knoll Offshore Windfarm for practical experience in the third year.
Accommodation will be provided in Chester during term time for the first two years, with travel expenses for two journeys per month between the Grimsby region and the college address.
Term‑time accommodation is paid by RWE, including rent and utilities. Daily commute cost to college is covered (unless travel is arranged by RWE). A weekly allowance for food and drink while away from home is provided.
All reasonable travel costs for candidates invited to the assessment day are covered by RWE, to be discussed upon invitation.
25 days, to be taken outside of term time, plus public holidays.
