Business Unit – Wealth Planning

The Wealth Planning team provides comprehensive advice to individuals, companies, partnerships and trusts. We create bespoke financial plans and tackle a broad range of activities:

  • Cash flow analysis
  • Psychometric risk profiling
  • Pension aggregation
  • Income and Inheritance tax planning
  • Business planning
  • Protection for death and illness
  • Long‑term savings and investments
  • Offshore and international planning for non-domiciled and non-resident clients
  • Venture Capital Trust, Enterprise Investment Scheme and Business Relief advice
Brief Role Objective

A Chartered Financial Planner providing wealth planning and structuring advice to clients of the firm.

Key Responsibilities

You are expected to manage your own workload, make decisions and give advice to clients. You are recognised within the team and by the business for being extremely competent, with a high level of technical knowledge and extensive experience working autonomously.

Your breadth of experience allows you to contribute beyond technical expertise, e.g., representing the team or firm on committees or industry bodies.

You are responsible for maintaining your own client relationships and relationships with key stakeholders.

Key Regulatory Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (FCA, Money Laundering/Proceeds of Crime, Data Protection, Health & Safety) and LGT Wealth Management’s best practice in conduct, culture and compliance.
  • Ensure all wealth advice is conducted responsibly and in line with regulatory and LGT requirements.
  • Maintain continuous professional development to meet regulatory obligations.
  • Protect the firm from legal, regulatory, operational or reputational risks through proper account and relationship management.
  • Ensure all business and advice are compliant.
Your Profile
Knowledge & Qualifications
  • University qualification or equivalent industry experience.
  • Sound technical knowledge of current legislation, industry and products.
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience as a wealth planner in a private wealth manager/private banking environment.
Skills & Attributes
  • Strong understanding of wealth planning and regulatory advice processes.
  • Excellent knowledge of wealth planning products and suitability assessment.
  • Methodical, practical approach to delivering wealth planning advice.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills, able to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
  • Effective stakeholder expectation management.
  • High level of wealth planning technical knowledge, honesty and integrity.
  • Experience with cash flow planning software (Voyant preferred).
  • Pension transfer specialist.
  • Proficient IT skills (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Conduct oneself according to FCA’s Statement of Principles and Code of Practice for Approved Persons.
