Detailed Description

Pilgrims Hospices is seeking Volunteer Gardeners to help maintain the beautiful and welcoming grounds at our Ashford hospice. Working under the guidance of the Maintenance Team and Hospice Services Manager, you will join an enthusiastic group of volunteers to support a variety of tasks, including tidying and weeding, keeping outdoor areas clean, assisting with pruning and composting, and providing general gardening help. While some basic gardening experience is helpful, it is not essential; we are looking for reliable, hardworking individuals who enjoy working as part of a team. In this role,

Why these skills are required

Volunteer Gardeners should enjoy being outdoors and have a genuine interest in working in the garden. No previous experience is required, but a willingness to learn and to work as part of a team is essential. Volunteers should be aware of basic health and safety considerations, particularly when using gardening equipment, and be able to work independently with minimal supervision. Reliability, flexibility, good communication skills, and the ability to maintain confidentiality are important. While basic gardening or planting knowledge is desirable, it is not essential. Volunteers should also be in good physical health, show tact and diplomacy, have a good sense of humour, and ensure their tetanus vaccination is up to date before starting.
