Overview

Volunteer Counsellor/Therapist role at Burning Nights CRPS Support. Contribute professional therapy skills to a mental health support service for CRPS patients, their relatives and partners.

What difference will you make?

You will help develop and deliver counselling and psychotherapy services to CRPS patients and their families, expanding mental health support to those in need. Your expertise will support our growth and ensure regular access to counselling and therapy for service users.

What are we looking for?

Essential

  • Be a member of one of the recognised organisations (see list below)
  • Diploma level qualifications as a minimum; Degree or Masters in Counselling, Counselling/Clinical Psychology, Psychotherapy or Art Therapy (minimum 100 hours)
  • Proof of professional indemnity insurance annually (charity may contribute up to a capped amount)
  • Proof of professional body membership annually
  • A valid enhanced DBS certificate, less than three years old and renewed every three years (charity will pay for this)
  • Ability to keep personal data safe

Desirable

  • Knowledge of Complex Regional Pain Syndrome or chronic pain
  • Experience as a chronic pain or CRPS counsellor/psychologist
  • Commitment to charity values; willingness to develop skills
  • Team player; approachable, presentable, enthusiastic
  • Effective administration, planning and organisational skills
Supervision and interview

The charity offers monthly group supervision (1.5 hours; groups of 3–4 therapists). After application assessment, you may be invited to an online interview. If successful, an enhanced DBS or PVG check will be arranged.

What will you be doing?

We are seeking 4–6 qualified counsellors, psychologists or psychotherapists for our adult therapy service. You will provide one-to-one counselling/therapy sessions online via Zoom or telephone. Depending on your qualifications, you may provide person-centred or integrative counselling, or specialist therapies such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and EMDR for CRPS patients, their families and carers.

Referrals come from health or legal professionals, or individuals themselves. This role offers an opportunity to develop counselling and therapy skills, organisation, communication and teamwork.

You will be part of a small charity and help ensure no one faces CRPS alone.
