We are seeking a Vice President, POM Product Owner to join our BNY Payments Enablement Enterprise Platform team in Manchester, UK. In this role, you will lead one of the pods in the Inquiry Management Group, which manages and resolves transactional inquiries across the payment’s lifecycle, enhancing operational support, client experience, and platform resiliency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Inquiry Management Group pod, ensuring seamless, compliant, and efficient inquiry resolution.
  • Collaborate with operations, compliance, IT, and client teams to balance business needs.
  • Work closely with development teams, testers, and SMEs to deliver high‑quality solutions.
  • Analyze investigation trends and use data to inform product decisions and drive operational efficiency.
  • Maintain a product backlog, writing clear user stories and acceptance criteria.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Several years as a Product Owner, Product Manager, or Business Analyst in transaction banking.
  • Proven experience in payment investigations or related areas such as payment processing, SWIFT messaging, or reconciliation.
Domain Expertise
  • Deep understanding of payment transaction processing across different rails, methods, and workflows.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of cross‑border payments, correspondent banking, and global payment schemes (SWIFT, SEPA, Fedwire, CHAPS).
  • Strong knowledge of payment investigation workflows including exceptions handling, returns, repairs, and claims.
  • Familiarity with ISO 20022 and legacy MT messaging standards.
  • Awareness of regulatory requirements (AML, sanctions screening, FATF, PSD2, Travel Rule, etc.).
  • Insight into the control environment of inquiries, fraud and sanctions workflows, and their integration with inquiries management.
Product Ownership & Agile Skills
  • Experience as a Product Owner in Agile/Scrum environments with solid grasp of Agile principles and ceremonies.
  • Ability to write clear, actionable user stories, define acceptance criteria, and manage a product backlog.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, balancing needs across operations, compliance, IT, and clients.
  • Proven collaboration with development teams, testers, and business SMEs to deliver high‑quality solutions.
Technical & Analytical Skills
  • Understanding of API integration, workflow systems, and case management tools used in transaction banking.
  • Proficiency with tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Excel, iGrafx, and data visualization tools.
  • Ability to analyze investigation trends and use data to inform product decisions.
Soft Skills & Other Qualities
  • Strong communication and documentation skills, able to translate complex payment processes into business and technical requirements.
  • High attention to detail in compliance‑ and risk‑sensitive environments.
  • Strong problem‑solving mindset with ability to work independently in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure setting.
  • Comfortable working in a global, cross‑functional team across different time zones.
