UK&I EHS Advisor
The Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Advisor is responsible for providing direction and support for all EH&S activities, including implementation, monitoring, and review of C&W compliance/performance.
Role Purpose
An instrumental role in the development and effective implementation of Cushman & Wakefield (CW) Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) Strategy, focussed predominantly on High-Risk Service Lines in the UK&I Cluster. Delivering effective improvement programmes across quality, health, safety, and environmental performance and driving positive EHS Culture and engagement across the CW organisation, in support of CW business objectives. This role directly reports to the UK&I EHS Cluster Manager and will require a focussed, energetic, and experienced professional with proven success in driving EHS engagement and managing the effective implementation of EHS improvement programmes. We are open to considering this individual to be based in any of our key offices.
Core Responsibilities
- The UK&I EHS Advisor will seek out opportunities for improvement and implement solutions across our Project Development Services (PDS) & Asset Services (AS) businesses.
- Support the UK&I EHS Cluster Manager in identifying significant organisational risk areas and develop effective implementation programmes for robust health and safety mitigation controls, policies, procedures, and guidance in accordance with the UK&I Cluster Improvement Plan, C&W EMEA EHS strategy, and local legislation.
- Work at all levels and across all C&W departments and functions; strong stakeholder engagement is critical.
- Build relationships with our higher risk business units, including PDS and UK AS departments.
- Ensure compliance with UK&I Policies and Procedures across Asset Services.
- Drive engagement with PDS colleagues; experience of working on construction projects of varying risk levels is expected.
- Work as the key interface between the UK&I Cluster and the EMEA EHS Lead for Owner & Occupier Services.
- Implement initiatives to improve EHS compliance and awareness such as strong knowledge of UK&I construction-based legislation, best practices in health and safety, ISO Standards implementation, leading audit programmes, training programmes, and providing technical advice to operational managers.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and report on performance within UK&I High Risk Service Lines against objectives, targets, and improvement programmes.
- Present on EHS matters at high-risk service line meetings, attend Senior Service Line Leadership meetings and forums.
- Implement EMEA EHS Strategy requirements within the UK&I High Risk Service Lines.
- Provide support and technical advice to high risk service line employees, Sector Leads and technical teams on EHS matters.
- Cooperate and coordinate timely sharing of information with service line, internal insurance teams and providers for incident information.
- Triage and monitor all incidents recorded in UK&I across all service lines and investigate all CW High Risk Service Line Incidents.
Qualifications / Knowledge & Experience
Level 6 qualification in Occupational Health and Safety.
- Demonstrable experience of implementing models of health, safety and environmental management in accordance with international standards.
- Minimum Level 3 qualification in Construction Safety.
- Principal Designer qualification desirable.
- Certified membership of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (CertIOSH) or other professional safety body with required CPD.
- Experience working in construction, office, and retail facilities.
- Detailed knowledge and proven track record of implementing processes meeting health and safety law in the UK & Ireland.
- Currently hold a position within an organisation where brand and reputation management are critical.
